Looking at sources for a rorty-ish stainless cat back exhaust for a '94 Mk. 3.5 Fiesta RS1800. I'm finding that even 'pre-owned' parts for it, plastics in particular, have loopy asking prices. Or is it just me?

Do you not have a local place that could manufacture one from scratch?

Aye not sure where you are in the UK, but AA Silencers in Stafford did me a cracking custom exhaust on my old Punto Sporting - managed to get it sounding like a 70s Alfa smile

ISTR lots of 80s/90s Fords around his workshop so may be able to help?

Well it is here looking much dirtier for traveling up from England on a trailer! Something like 175k miles and unsure what the history is.



Ignore the caravan, its cold and not fun to live in while building a house.



Interior is in decent shape.



Has the big nav.





Half worn pilot sport 4s all round which is a bonus.



Both mirrors are doing this which I may or may not do anything about.



Folders full of work done, not looked at it yet.

So good it's blown your socks off (well your shoe anyway wink ). Looks great for £2k and 175,000 miles. I think that's the same shape/E number that I had as a (diesel) estate as a company car back in about 2011. I imagine the 330i is a lot nicer to be behind than the 320d too. beer

Total repair costs of my son's Fiesta standing at £290 for the used bonnet/headlamps/grille and pattern radiator panel/upper grille/bumper/bumper support, which isn't bad at all. We've got most of it back together now and just need to bodge something up to secure the driver's side of the bumper in place and fit it, plus the two headlamps.



I'll spray the bonnet when the weather gets warmer as we kept the original one and I've roughly straightened it out to use during the respray as I'll do the bonnet off the car in my garage.

Depending on how much of a boy racer your son is - a simple temporary fix to the bonnet is either a satin black or carbon look wrap - cheap as well

How much did they charge if you don't mind me asking. I drive past there daily but never thought of them before having a very cheap system fitted to my 106 that sounds like it's blowing primarily because its a cheap pattern system that doesn't really fit properly!

£2k?! That is a bargain (on the surface of things yet to be discovered) what a cracking purchase, hope it bodes you a formidable shedding future.

Just to comment that I had a 106 independence for 8 years. I still really miss it to be honest, I just really liked it. It had wind up windows, no power steering and 3 stud wheels like a 2cv. (I was on the 106 owners club at the time).

What spec is yours? (Independence, Zest, quiksilver if your posh or is it an older XN, XR etc? There where so many trim levels on the 106 over its life).

You remind me of my late wife's car, a 1.3 205 bought new in 1985.
I have owned and driven many large barges since then, and while some were more comfortable and wafty, very few were more fun to drive with gusto.

Having driven a late 60s Mini from Cambridge to Montgomery for a friend about 20 years ago (I got caught up in a Friday afternoon jam on the M6, and when I got out of the car in the motorway services near Birmingham I actually fell over because one leg had gone to sleep), I know it would be a bad idea to buy another 1980s 205 now.

But I do fancy owning again something small, light, with chuckability and not necessarily too much power. With traffic free B roads to suit.

Its exactly that spec! Wind up windows, No PAS, 3 Stud 13" wheels! Originally purchased in Jan 2020 and broke all the rules. Purchased in dark, pouring rain etc!
I was in dire need of a cheap set of wheels due to the mrs getting a new job which required me to do the school runs. Not having much cash, this was the first thing that came up on marketplace at a reasonable distance away for £250. I took it thinking if it lasted 6 months, its got me out of a hole.

I had to take a stanley knife to the carpets thanks to (i presume) the sunroof drains being blocked. I've got it through a few MOTs now. Its really quite clean, no visible rust etc

So after running it as a shed for a good few years, even the kids want to see it bought back to its former glory, so against all shed rules, in the summer, i'm going to try and sort the undiagnosed leak from somewhere, sound deaden it, strip the interior and reinstall some carpets. Obviously i'm going to do all this as cheaply as humanly possible, but i've become quite attached to the thing!

It costs barely anything in maintenance, silly cheap to run and the 60bhp doesn't seem to bother me as much as i thought it would, despite regular motorway trips to see family.

I have debated chopping it in for something better, but then covid hit and car prices went through the roof, so I keep on shedding and loving it smile

57 plate Ibiza 6L here. I have the 1.4 16v 100hp Formula Sport variant. I've not had so much fun for years

Shed standards of repair to get my son back on the road again. Some questionable use of a trolley jack to straighten the metal crash bar, but at least the headlamp mounting holes line up now. biggrin Shame we missed some better headlights last weekend as the driver's one we have has broken mounts, so I've got to faff about repairing them with a tab kit. At least it's almost ready to use again:

Brings back memories of a cavalier I used to have which got stolen and dumped in a field. Rebuilt it for £70 with parts from the local scrappie and pocketed the rest of the insurance money which meant that the car cist me nothing.

I used to buy my cars from the scrappie and fix them up. Did quite a few Cavaliers over the years, mostly Mk2 as they were old enough at the time to get written off with only light cosmetic damage. At least that experience came in handy and got him back on the road quickly. Not much more than his excess either (since he only pays the excess on his own repairs, which I hadn't realised until we looked into it).

I’ve noticed a few Nissan qashqai’s have dipped into shed territory, anyone have any ideas about the 1.5dci? Worth a chance or would you run a mile?

Rust, bodywork looks ok from above, underneath a potential moneypit.
