I’m generally a “I don’t like equipment” sort of chap.
I have to say, I really like two features which are new to me on the LS430.
Soft closing doors. I had always dismissed there as the ultimate gimmick; going too far for the sake of it. But now I like being able to just vaguely close the doors and have them chiiiunk shut on their own.
Keyless entry. It just works. Getting keys out of your pocket is a bit of a pain once you are used to not having to do so.
In the HATE category is not having proper dials for ventilation. It’s infuriating to have to manage this through the touch screen. Totally distracting and over complex.
Must admit I just leave it on auto. Only thing I ever adjust is the temperature, which is a button. I agree RE complexity, but even on my last few cars which had climate control I've never even touched the fan speeds. I have to say, I really like two features which are new to me on the LS430.

You’ll have to wait for the Mk2 version to come into budget for the ugly to wear off, especially the estate. Yum.Emeye said:

The last nice looking mainstream BMW ever designed?Shame that one is not Macron friendly - I am very tempted by the 4 door version when it finally gets close to thread budget. I think petrol versions are very rare. How refined and borky is the 40 diesel?
What year were these introduced?

Going to view this tomorrow. It’s only the V6 but that’s adequate for one man and his greyhound.
Not dying about the interior, would have preferred black leather but these don’t come up very often in NI so at this price point it’s definitely worth looking at.

I hate this on modern cars you put it on to the windscreen and it all goes into auto the fan blowing a Gale the aircon on and everything else, The windscreen was just misted at the top ffs
Erm, modern cars? My E38 did this! SpeckledJim said:
For me there's a bit of a dotted line between the E30 and the E36 that marks the point of 'modern cars'.
The E30 belongs to the 02 Series and the E21, but the E36 belongs to the E46 and E90 and F30.
A bog-basic 3.0 E36 M3 saloon in silver, with sunflowers and no spoiler, and black vaders, would be a nice Christmas present thankyouverymuchindeed
Fantastically put Jim, that is just the same in my mind. The E36 was to BMW what the Sierra was to Ford. The E30 belongs to the 02 Series and the E21, but the E36 belongs to the E46 and E90 and F30.

As a former E36 M3 saloon owner I must say the contour wheels are my preference - the sunflowers seem to suit the coupe so much better imho.
I thought this might be interesting then realised it as dodgy as a bloody dodgy thing.
Petrol 3.0, no Macron hated fuel here.
Then - new V5 issued yesterday, MOT runs out in 5 days, last couple of MOTs have mileage 'unreadable', claimed 100K miles but actually about 200K miles.
Hope nobody gets caught out on this....

Erm, modern cars? My E38 did this! As the previous Fancoluxembourgish owner has let me down, can any Lexus owner tell me how the fk does one adjust the headrest on a 2002 LS430? I rarely get defeated by a car, but after arriving early for the Jimmy Carr gig in Manchester last night, I parked up and was bored so decided I’d have a lie down while waiting for my friends to turn up…
Every other part of the seat is electronically adjustable, even the seatbelt, but could I find a button for the headrests?
I could go and dig out the manual or maybe Google it, but I’m being lazy.

Heated front screens in an E38? I don't think so.
Not fully heated as per a Ford, it’s the lower edge, to help the wipers offEdited by Emeye on Saturday 27th November 11:23
