This is no surprise to me. It seems as though in the last few months it attracted about 20 people filming their own content for this. That then attracted people who wanted to do stupid things. The amount of people who came blasting through it at way, way over the speed limit was ridiculous. Alright, the splashes were entertaining and it's good to have a chuckle when someone's modified Discovery wasn't as good as they thought it was but that was only a matter of time before a kid got splattered. There was one fella on a motorbike not too long back that ended up in quite a state as I understand it after he was thrown from his bike and hit the ground hard.RazerSauber said:

"So what if the depth gauge says 3ft-something / 1m of standing water. My Golf will make that!"
- A baying mob encouraging the above with the sole intention of capturing the most ridiculous and spectacular footage for social media likes.
- Stereotypical sheep/herd mentality attracting more of the same moronic people to make a special trip to the area to participate either as spectators or drivers.
About time it was stopped.

Australian Car Crash / Dash Cam Compilation 34.
What is it about Australia that means their drivers just can't look at the road?Almost every clip is someone running a red light, missing a stopped queue of traffic etc. Are they so worried about speeding that they just look at the dash all the time?
Friend in Oz was hit head on by a phone zombie travelling at 50+mph suddenly realising there was stationary traffic in front so wrenched it over into oncoming traffic. She and her parents suffered injuries from fractured sternum to broken legs/arms. Their staffie escaped unharmed!

Agreed. Some time ago, I decided I wasn't going to watch these any more. What started off as a mildly amusing selection of random big splashes had degenerated into a cringeworthy showcase of some of the worst qualities in modern society:

Went to a wedding at the Mill in the summer and the water was very shallow yet there were still a few people egging on traffic to go faster. I literally went through at 10 mph much to their disgust

UK Moto Clips. Some angry motorcyclists.
A lot of the bikers really chose to stick their heads through the railings rather than get on with the day and live to fight another one.You can't educate people through the medium of RPM and head tutting.
Stumbled across this channel full of f***wittery on Instagram mostly from 'innit bruv' types in German whips.

Seriously what is the matter with drivers nowadays, because most seem to have no comprehension of what could or is likely to happen.
Even with new tyres and AWD I still wouldnt have been doing 38 mph in the soaking wet with loose sheep at the roadside!

1.05 - yes, other driver is wrong, but why accelerate hard to try to run other guy into oncoming cars?
Another DCW who cannot back down even at the risk of killing or injuring someone.
Good spotting natural action from some, but why do idiots pull overtakes like that. Another DCW who cannot back down even at the risk of killing or injuring someone.

The camera car was sitting at a green light for quite a while - we start the clip with it fully green (not just red-amber change)
That is an interesting point which I had not noticed.I timed with a stopwatch from when the clip first starts to the cam cars front wheels crossing the stop line...it is a full 3 seconds and the cam car is moving at a very leisurely pace.
Now taking into account what you already pointed out that when the clip starts the light has cycled through its normal sequence and is on green, it is little wonder that somebody behind was going to get impatient and at least think about overtaking.
Road closure a problem? Not anymore - just drive down the pavement
