Isn't this the same guy that trashed a F1 car in about 50 yards?

Impressive racing history bar that embarrassing incident?

Doing well on his first day. Managed to tactfully tell the world that Lewis Hamilton should be punished for not coming to the FIA presentation and that “rules are rules”..
Coming only a few days after his organisation created the biggest sporting upset in years by misapplication of the rules…

Hypocrisy of the highest order. He has the tact and PR craft of a bull in a China shop

Clear as mud:

One of Sulayem's first responsibilities since taking over will be to judge whether or not Hamilton's absence from the event goes against the regulations.

Speaking about the situation in his first official press conference at president, Sulayem said: "At the end of the day, rules are rules.

"So we are going to look into the side of where the technical rules are there to be employed and was he in breach? I have to look into it."

He added: "Of course, we'll have to be also be following our rules. But in the meanwhile, it doesn't stop us from making a champion feel good about the sport, you know.

"It's easy to be nice to people. And it is cheap to be nice. And it's also to motivate people. But definitely, if there is any breach, there is no forgiveness in this."

I have no idea who this guy is or his background. I assume he is rich, has connections and is corrupt.

But hey, default positions are alllll about form.

What a moron. Obviously he’s not thick but crikey. His last paragraph in that statement says it’s cheap to be nice but the next sentence is saying there is no forgiveness for a man who was just fiddled out of a world championship not wanting to come celebrate the man who was gifted it. Contradiction.

Looks like the fia are in safe hands. laugh

Done some rallying, sorry, I couldn`t even be bothered to look him up, I knew of Jean Todt, I knew of Max Mosley ,how come suddenly there`s a nobody in charge, like there`s a nobody race director ?

Just looked, Vice Prez since 2008, or 9 depends where you read it, I had no clue.

I read it differently. I read it as him saying what he has to say from the point ot rules being broken but nor wanting t commit to looking to excuse Lewis which I thought he was trying to do

He was in the position for the maximum three terms. 12 years in total.

Ecclestone's wife Fabiana is apparently part of his team and likely to be appointed to an FIA role following his election, if reports are to be believed.

Is that because of his name?

Probably because he has become president of the FIA, those seem to be the qualifications required.

Why, what were you thinking?

So that's more time spent behind the wheel of an F1 car than Masi then?
