Our family had a dark blue in the early nineties. It was a revelation that the sunroof could slide open and not just latch like in the Ladas. We would stick our heads through it at some speed. I am not sure what the adults were thinking letting us do it hehe
The main reason I love sunroof equipped vehicles to this day are the great times I had stood through an open one on the centre arm rest whilst at air shows.
Best car ever for this was the 2CV, full roll back, standing properly on the flat floor and a handy cross bar on top of the B posts to hang onto.

No longer available. That's a shame as it would have been sat in my driveway today.

Well it's both - the Duratec is a joint engineering project between Ford and Mazda in the end, but it was derived from the Mazda L-engine family originally. Either way it's a good thing - it's a nice engine, well built, and lots of parts available as it's so common.

But then it's had another round of engineering to become the PY-VPS, nominally "Skyactiv", i.e. higher compression ratio etc. Eventually that was re-engineered again to become the Skyactiv-X which is the immensely clever HCCI engine.

Triumph Stag was great for this too:

I remember a trip to Flamingo Land when I was about 10 and clinging on to the roll bar while sitting on the back ledge - on country roads only, we weren't allowed while on the dual carriageway.... safety first!

Anyone else dreaming of owning a V8 XJR at the moment? Must be the Richard Hammond road trip to the Lakes...

These two appear to be rust free:

I looked at Mazda 6 estates: I think they’re a good looking and well reviewed car. My FIL has a newer hatchback one and it’s a good car.
Very positive on the being economical too.
I've noticed some Mazda's of that age seem to suffer with a lot of rust so definitely worth checking for that.

I like the Mazda 6 estates too, they look quite smart inside and out.

Just picked up a jaguar XJ8 X350 for £1,560. Bad suspension compressor but I have rebuilt these pumps a few times now! This will be my 3rd bought unseen so let's hope it's not a dog.

I've had a 3.0 and a 4.2 so it will be interesting to see how this fits in-between.

At this price though Itd of been rude not too.

Yeah for sub-2 bags if it's a decent one that's a bargain whichever way you look at it imho.

Presumably the 1560 figure is the one the wife gets, not the one on screen?!

Bargain either way!
