…Ironically, the E38 was slated for being boring and conservative when it was first released.
Those words have certainly come back to haunt us.E38s are becoming pretty rare now unfortunately. I liked my 728i, but, for me, the E65 was the better car in just about every way, save for the running costs!!!!

I bet you didn't look at the MPG heading up to the Coire Cas carpark! In actual car news and seeing its nearly Friday, the 306 Rallye I mentioned a few weeks back is now up for £46k.....I had thought maybe high £20's upto £30K -ish. Loved thrashing my GTI-6 back in the day but that's serious money.
Very pleased I managed to post without mentioning all the ban crap that went on....ahh bugger..

Saw this thread pop up on What's New, and thought there are a few people on here with Merc ML, GL and R-classes who may be impacted by this important recall:
I thought I'd better check (with a 2015 GL) but it seems to be 164 model related only - I guess it would be rare for a recall to span a model change:jfdi said:
I received a recall notice for my Mercedes GL yesterday for a potential issue with corrosion to the brake booster (servo) housing which could cause total brake failure. The recall notice is titled (STOP DRIVE): Brake booster and goes on the state "your car should not be driven until the Safety Recall has been completed"
The recall I believe affects all Mercedes GLs MLs and R classes from 2006 to about 2016, so a lot of cars. To be fair to Mercedes I they appear to have handled it very well based on the fact after a phone call to the main dealers, I've a technician booked to visit the car at home tomorrow to check it.
I get the reasoning for the don't drive in the recall, in effect absolving Mercedes of any fault should the worst happen. However what would/could happen to the driver should they choose to ignore this advice and the worse does happen. Is there any case law or precedent set?

Had they sorted the gearbox on these by 2008? Could be a useful do-it-all mini barge.

The XJ6 is getting perilously close to getting scrapped. It's due me approximately 900 quid if anyone wants it ...
First, the ride quality continues to be absolutely terrible. It however isn't as the garage said because of alignment being out (though it is, steering wheel is about 20 degrees out), but rather because it is about two inches lower on the back rear corner. Presumably an air suspension fault? Yet no air suspension light.
Second, the low coolant warning came on today. Lovely sweet smell hit me when I opened the bonnet. Much pinkness around the waterpump. Presumably the waterpump is leaking. Levels do not appear to have dropped much, so presumably leaking slowly, though I've hardly done any miles in it.
Third, several litres of water came out of the passenger door. Never seen that one before.
Oh and neither passenger nor driver heaters do anything now.
Glad I just wasted 600 quid on front brakes and track rod ends...

My stopgap XJ is back on the market after my new car arrived and ive found a bit of time to prep it for sale, really not looking forward to selling it as it seems to be getting more and more of a chore to sell older cars these days.
Put too much money into it sorting out some mechanical niggles for what is a far from perfect car. I'll be selling a better car than I inherited though so someone should get a decent deal.
Anywhere one might search for an advert to share with friends?Put too much money into it sorting out some mechanical niggles for what is a far from perfect car. I'll be selling a better car than I inherited though so someone should get a decent deal.

Might have to be quick, I've had a reasonable offer that might get accepted this weekend.

Looks great. Would make a much better bedroom wall poster than some generic hypercar surround by an inappropriately dressed person draped all over it.Mezzanine said:

They are getting mighty close to thread budget and I think they're such a unique car.
