Petrol prices- when does the madness end?

You probably can as the pandemic was only a couple of years ago and fuel prices plummeted at that point. Ours was down to 99p for unleaded.
I remember it well. Friends in Louisiana were paying 99c per US gallon at that time, worked out at about 22p per litre. Crazy times.Roman Rhodes said:
Different dates. Obviously a price decrease after the 15th
Nope, I was there a few weeks ago and it was definitely 10p difference thenashleyman said:
Please go and take a photo. I have 100% seen them with a difference that’s not 7p per litre.
I'll take a photo next time I'm there - although it seems like you're agreeing with me above!Captain Answer said:
149.9 for diesel and 141.9 for petrol at Costco near me now - can't remember last time it was so cheap
Yet our costco is 136.9. Why is there such variance across the UK? My locals are 144.7 or 145.7 yet drive further up north and all the garages are 141.7 or below. It's never been so random before. NFT said:
No idea why but my local cashier thinks petrol's going up next week,
I'm just gonna have to find a new overnight joy with the right combination of smooth straights, curvature and satisfying sounds closer to work.
Hard times.
Odd, crude oil has dropped by more than 10% in the last week and the £:$ rate has been steady. Prices should drop by a few pence.I'm just gonna have to find a new overnight joy with the right combination of smooth straights, curvature and satisfying sounds closer to work.
Hard times.

There is a simple solution which involves starting with the weakest one, for example Big Jim's and having a quiet governmental word in his ear.
Unfortunately, the releasing of the refiners to charge based on global, free market pricing was sensible at the time all those years ago but should have changed as the world changed.

At the retail end that is being talked about the variations will be largely due to the frequency that the price changes in the supply contract and local competition. All retailers will be looking to optimise profit.

It would have been 145.9 the last time you went, too. Tesco are always 7ppl more for 99 than 95, company wide. It's been between 143.9 and 145.9 for a fair while here. Shell are 158.9 and Texaco 160.9 for comparison.
I thought the same too re 7p difference, but last time I went to Tesco Saffron Walden it was 9p, yet another example of them taking the pi**NFT said:

Is your local cashier thinking that the fuel duty cut is ending? It was going to, but it got extended again in the budget last week.I'm just gonna have to find a new overnight joy with the right combination of smooth straights, curvature and satisfying sounds closer to work.

Ah got it now, anyway, got a top-up there yesterday so here's the photo as promised :-)
That's disappointing if not an error. It used to be, M99 was 5ppl more expensive than 95 RON and that was across all stores. Then a couple of pence variation set in, and was ultimately replaced by 7ppl increase for M99. Now it seems the creep is happening again. Still miles cheaper than Shell, Texaco or Esso et al. for 99 RON so I'm not complaining too much. Shell and Texaco 99 RON are 158.9 and 160.9 local to me, so Tesco is still a veritable bargain in comparison. I filled up with M99 yesterday at 145.9, but even that is more expensive than the time before.

As I noted previously in my experience it use to be 7pp too but has been 9 or 10 when I’ve occasionally looked. Due to the winter lay off I’ve not bought any for a few months. So that’s at least three of us that have noticed the change, clearly a theme!
