Failed today, it's a car that completely passed me by for some reason! I'd never heard of it.

Failed. I'd not have got it with 100 tries to be honest.

1 for me again. Another where it was more gut feel than actually knowing that detail.

Didn't get that. Hardly surprising since I've never seen one before.

Three guesses. I had to look up model name. Knew the make. My first guess was a French car that's not available as a manual.

Two guesses for me, the first guess wrong because of incorrect spelling of the manufacturer grumpy

Likewise I couldn't tell you why I thought it was that, pleasant surprise to see I was correct.

I think when we look at cars, we subconsciously pick up on little details without realising. For me it was that scalp in the skirt and the way it meets the wheelarch that I subconsciously seemed to remember.

Perhaps we're catering for the folk that just discover the thread and don' t know about the webpage yet?
I understand why you wouldn't understand that though.
Understand this.

If someone comes to the thread for the first time, and finds today's MCLAREN P1 quiz has been "spoiled" for them because they read the thread before doing the quiz, then that is unlucky. If they then did the same thing on subsequent MCLAREN P1 days, it would be staggeringly stupid behaviour. Therefore each PH user can only possibly have the quiz "ruined" for them the once. Because although I've read a LOT of (imho) really stupid opinions and statements on here, no-one ever seems to admit that they are stupid. Ergo, no-one is going to be affected by "spoilers" because they aren't MCLAREN P1 stupid.

I mean, it's 2347hrs, and by 0001hrs tomorrow there'll be a new car to guess. Typing MCLAREN P1 isn't "spoiling" anything for anyone now, is it?

To extend the logical thinking, there seems to be no CARDLE archive to check back as to which cars appeared on which days. So there's no database with which to compare the cryptic chit-chat on this thread. So someone who "just found this thread" is just going to read through pages and pages of what now amounts to Gobbledygook, people trying to use veiled speech to talk about a car quiz while never naming the actual car. Add to that the fact that people continue to chit-chat about yesterday's car over conversations about today's quiz, and it's a recipe for confusion. Especially as some of the cars are pretty rare and obscure. Like a one-of-it's-kind British racing car which never raced nor entered any kind of production as a road or race car, however limited. Whereas, if someone had the balls to stand up and challenge this illogical nonsense, perhaps we could talk in plain English about the MCLAREN P1 car of the day, and if anyone wanted to add something about a previous day's JAGUAR XJ13 car they could do so with clarity without fogging up the discourse about today's answer.
I understand why you wouldn't understand that though. wink
I think you might be overthinking this. wink
