It's amazing how upset some people get when a new car is released.

SUV: drug dealer or Chelsea comments.

Porsche GT: I can't buy one so it's pointless.

Any BMW: they've all been ugly since the E39.

Have you driven a new RRS?

Verbatim from your Pistonheads profile: "Note - don't take a word of notice of what people say about a car unless they have actually driven one, ideally that specific model, otherwise they are taking sh***e (there is a lot of it about)."

Boom ……^^^^^
I do think labelling and name calling people based on their vehicle choice is a bit pathetic.

this is what happens when they restrict who can post in the NP&E sub forum, means it bleeds into other parts of the forum.

Is bragging about new car ratio to income or whatever the new PH stair dominating metric of bellendry?
Seems to be.

New RRS - too big, too expensive and would never want to own one but definitely handsome looking thing.

I did laugh when I read that message having well under a thousand posts.

The irony is most of the NPE ‘motoring enthusiasts’ never post in anything else but NPE despite having thousands of posts between them and some have even stated they have little or no interest in cars ,so it’s a laughable policy in reality.

Anyway going for a run today in my white socks and off to look at the RRS later.

The surfacing on Mercedes EQ's, the FFRR and this leaves me a bit cold. Everything is flush and nothing protrudes, none of them have any depth or texture. To my eyes they all look like plastic blobs which isn't very "premium". There's no material richness on any of their exteriors. I know it's probably driven by aero but that doesn't make me like how it looks.

There’s the Defender for people who like a bit of lumpiness.

Or could be that I find it amusing that people spaff loads of money on PCP and associated interest payments, whilst living in rabbit hutches. I know 3 examples of that personally.

Can I afford to drop £1k a week on a PCP, certainly and also own a listed property (just FYI that one for you). I'd drop it on a car with a soul, that meant more than feeding my ego via a chintzy status symbol. Of a brand that increasingly just says 'try hard and lord it'

Personal freedom I here your whiney, 'how dare he say that without accusing him of being jealous response', yeah the freedom to splurge money they ain't got on following celebrity, vacuous culture.

Hope you enjoy some of your taxes going to bail out a fair few feckless souls who get rinsed over the next few years when stagflation necessitates many of these PCPers and loan companies a bail out.

But yeah I've got a chip on me shoulder....
The more you post the more apparent the chip becomes, you're certainly triggered over this car and desperate to prove something to a bunch of strangers in the internet.

If you worried less about what others do you'd be more centred.

I've got a current model RRS in antichav spec bought (for cash, c26:1 bellend ratio) a few years ago. It's been a fantastic family car for kids and dogs and long journeys. Nothing else has been released since to persuade me to change it despite being tempted in lockdown to take advantage of crazy used prices.

The new design is a bit too Velar for me whereas the old one could easily be specced in an understated way. If I were to go for a new Range Rover of the current range I would probably go for the full fat based on the new models. Having said that, given the prevailing winds I'm not sure I'll buy another SUV. It feels like their time has passed so I will probably run my old one into the ground until something electric that actually appeals comes out.

His profile says he's a Marketing Account Director, so you shouldn't be surprised if a little brown liquid comes out when he airs his opinion.
I can only hope it was written in jest.

This is an intelligent and thoughtful post.

I'd just like a bit of clarification, though - you say "any NEW Range Rover". As my Range Rover is 17 years old, does this mean I'm still a wker for owning it?

If not, at what precise age does it stop being bought by wkers and is this critical age different for Range Rovers an Range Rover Sports?

As an aside, what did you think of the last Range Rover or Range Rover Sport that you drove?

I love Range Rovers.

We have a 2010 Full Sized L322 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography, it's aging beautifully and still a lovely thing.

Usually I'd say go for the Full Fat one as they look the most classy.

However, the Full Fat is now so big and expensive that the sport looks like a great option.

Although maybe they could make a convertible version just like the Evoke, then you will be able to hear people calling you a Tosser!

As a metrology technician for many years working on tooling approval of many Land Rover variants of Aluminium Engine blocks and heads I always promised myself I would never touch any with a barge pole, but unfortunately I'm deluded and if I could afford any of the latest RRS I would happily buy 1 but I can't afford 1 so if you can afford 1 why not buy 1 most people that are putting owners down for wanting and buying a new1 are just simply jealous as they can't afford 1 or don't want to part with there money so they happily slag people of who do want to part with there cash.

Maybe some people would prefer to drive a nice car than live in a big house?

I live in a normal sized apartment, wasn't particularly expensive, the area is nice and it's fine for me and the wife.

I have a 720s, M5 and 320i in the car park, the value of all 3 is probably the same as the property. Only the M5 is on PCP and that's because the deal was too good to turn down, the McLaren was bought outright and the 320i is a lease through the business.

I could afford to live in a big house, but don't really see the point until I have kids so I'll enjoy the nice cars until that time comes.

Each to there own, doesn't bother me how other people spend their own money either.
You aren't from round Stockport are you?

I prefer the look of this to the new FFRR I think, saw one in person the other day and I’m just not sure about the back end of it, the L405 looks better, from the side and front they’re not that distinguishable though.
New Sport looks nicer from the back in the pictures.

I hope Land Rover have built the new ones properly and the reliability/quality control issues are a thing of the past.
