I was in a Fiat Coupe 20v turbo once waiting to 'give it some' in second gear once the road straightened out, one of these came along in the inside lane and just f*cked off up the road like I wasn't moving. I never saw it again.

I have always liked them and would not say no to one at all!

My rule of thumb is...turbos for the daily driver, and NA for the weekend/occasional car.

The last thing you want in a daily driver is to have to rev the arse off it for it to get a move on for me.
I once made a mistake driving a S2000 for daily from Birmingham to Oxford, 5 days a week.
It was fun the first 2-3 week, starting to get annoying and hate it after 3 months. Though I would enjoy it on country road on a weekend morning, turn out I still couldn't enjoy it without risking my license. Swap for a slower NC MX-5 still NA but power delivered at much lower rpm, and been enjoying it for the whole time I own it.

As said, I like the B7 RS4. Though my friend had one, and I was a bit surprised that it need some revs before it really got going. It was fast, but a bit too shouty over 6k revs for me. I think a supercharger conversion makes them really quick too.

For me styling wise, these are still the best to-date.

I saw an 07 reg avant last night in grey. I've not seen one for years! It was dirty with dirty wheels and didn't stand out at all. I still appreciated seeing it though!

For all the talk of needing to rev these out, I can't say I ever feel like my B8 especially lacks torque when driving round town - to be honest it's more usable daily than my old B9 S4 in some ways as although that had significantly more low down torque the way the throttle was calibrated in normal D meant it was really dimwitted whereas the B8 has instant response.

One of the only new cars I have ever owned was a B7 RS4 Avant

Its one of the best cars I have ever had. Had it 2 years and did 60k in it during that time.

I dont know anyone who regrets having one (bar running costs)

I absolutely loved mine! Best all-round car we've ever owned which is why we kept it for ten years and 100K miles. Fantastic engine producing great sounds from both ends! Decent handling with great feel at every interaction point with the car. We sold it five years ago now but I still miss it enormously.

I had a B7 RS4 sedan for 12 years. Overall, I found the car on the boring side. The only time I miss it is snowstorms.

Check for rust or go through a thorough inspection before you commit to buying one of these.

This one flew through an MOT with no advisories.

Oh and a rusty brake pipe burst during the fellas very short ownership whilst he was driving it.

Seems a few of the positive posts have been from people that owned one years ago, or had a cherished B7 RS4. In reality, a daily driver that's lived outside through 15 winters could have some rot.

Agreed cars will rust a bit, some more than others. However doesn’t stop the fact that this particular one had been covered up.

Basically don’t I wouldn’t be spending my hard earned on this one.

My friend chopped his RS4 in for an RS3, pretty sure he never regretted doing that.

Your friend must not have got it then, in a years time, I really want a B7 from my B9, they look awesome, and the drive is so much better, later models only have tech on there side and that's it (in my opinion of course, as everyone's different).

My impression of the B7 is it wasn't that great when pushed on a twisty B road. It felt heavy, and the brakes over heated fairly easily. The RS3 has it's faults, but it's just a bit better.
