That’s an awful lot of things to get wrong, sounds like they’re trying their luck doesn’t it.

I still can't work this out

So are they trying to get you to take the drug dealers car? Are they trying to charge you more money?.

I think in the current climate there is zero chance I'd be thinking summer delivery would be Jun more like Sept Oct at the earliest.

just take the October slot.

Thanks all

By drug dealer spec I mean black, on black leather, on black larger alloys, tinted windows and roof (plus a few other bits)

We didn't get as far as him really offering that as the colour combo is just not something I'd want. I agree it's going to be them trying to place a cancelled order within the quarter - we've stuck with our spec, even if now delayed (i'd half been expecting it tbh), stings with the petrol costs atm!

I'll be calling the dealer this week, dropping some big hints I know what they're doing and asking for the tracking codes etc so we can see everything.

What was the outcome? Any joy?

Cancellations will be higher than ever before, and that will continue to grow.

On a more positive note I’ve overpaid sooooo much of my mortgage over the last 2.5 years! I can’t be the only sensible one!! 😁

What is a mortgage?
It's a loan secured on property to enable the buyer to afford the purchase price of their prospective home. Often repaid over 25 years in monthly instalments after a deposit has been paid, some lenders allow over paying which will result in the the length of the term of the loan to become shorter.

But that's not important right now.

Have you been into the garage to see the other car and to complain bitterly to the salesman and his managers ?
And ask to see proof that the order was submitted properly.
I would not be happy that they are mucking you about.

I suspect your car is on a list to get built next February and this is a fob off.

Built to the wrong spec doesn’t really happen any more, unlike the dealer ordering the wrong spec and post COVID, some options simply no longer available due to chip shortages

Tell the salesman you want to view the car anyway in case you are ok with the ‘different’ spec and will take the car as is. October is a long way off after all.

This should flush out a few facts. Is the car available to view? If not, why not?

If you go onto BMW’s online car configurator and open the chat, you can give the ‘BMW Genius’ your order number and they’ll tell you the status and where your car is.

Might shed some light.

Happened to me end of last year .

M4 competition xdrive , car turns up and is delivered to me. turns out they d ordered and delivered an non xdrive version .

No way to tell them apart aside from lack of xdrive menu in the idrive, felt like I was going mad when I couldn’t find the xdrive settings.

Car returned and refund given, lots of embarrassment and apologies , they reordered the correct one but by then the experience was somewhat ruined so I didn’t bother with it.

Yeah, I'm even more certain of the above "our car" is currently on a boat and stops off at Southampton on its way to Germany tomorrow - should be with me in a month or so, issue then is delaying it to 1 September, stupid taking delivery a week before the plate change

You’ll have one someday when you leave Mummy and Daddy’s basement, son.
Don’t worry about scary grownup things just yet though

Given it's a lease, why bother waiting? Or do you need to show the neighbours that yours is brand spanking and not potentially 6 months old?

Its a PCP, although we intend to keep it for ~10 years and lump the balloon in a few years - it'll go onto our private plate but makes no sense in jumping to pay an extra months tax and take the few hundred quid hit on the plate difference for the sale of a few days

Sam.

Dealer trying something on.

Dealer admin or a sales manager would have ordered that car and they would not make that many mistakes.

Tell the garage you are going to contact BMW direct, dealer will certainly not want that to happen and the truth will come out.
Exactly this.

Your order will have been taken, Then a meeting with the sales manager to confirm the specification and options. He would then have the final input into the system. This would then be checked AGAIN by administration as its not a £20 T shirt they are ordering its a huge expense.

When you get new glasses the orders are checked twice as they can't be returned.

Long and short of it, Its the end of the quarter.. Get the customer into anything even at a loss.
