With those kind of stats, it seems pretty evident that the government priority seems to be to provide cheap premium products to those who are the highest earners, or who are spinning all of their motoring costs through their own companies.

Where's the carrot for the regular motorist, who just sees a choice between a Corsa for about £20k, or an EV equivalent that is likely to exceed £35k??
In a similar manner, those people with the means to invest in solar early were rewarded with very attractive terms which gave a quick Return on Investment. Now it is borderline whether a 4kWh solar array will pay for itself over the expected life of 25 years. Perhaps the Smart Export Guarantee rates need to be improved significantly to promote more uptake of domestic solar panels...

Vauxhall currently have new car PCP offers for both the petrol Corsa and the Electric Corsa.

Add up everything you pay over the 4 year PCP, including deposit, monthlies, fuel cost and vehicle tax and how much more is the electric car? It will be about a £100 a month on a car that has an overall cost of probably £600 a month (assuming the initial payment is spread over the whole period for comparison sake).

In any case, the 'regular motorist' is not typically a new car buyer.

Used car buyers outnumber new car buyers by at least 4 to 1.

Too bad Renault doesn't sell in the US. I'd have a Zoe.

Exactly. It's all about the money - green stuff is very very secondary. No one really cares if it wasn't for being cheaper.
Cost savings might be the predominant factor when making the initial purchase decision, however nearly everyone I know who has bought an EV claims they would never go back to ICE for their daily driver.
Probably because they drove some POS white goods car before in which case makes sense.
I went from a manual Porsche 997.1 to an EV for my daily drive and don’t regret it for a minute. The EV is just better in so many ways 95% of the time. The 997 is better for a very specific set if circumstances which are few and far between.
