I really enjoy driving my wifes MG5 EV.
For local journeys anyway, it just seems so much easier, quieter, and so much more relaxing.
And i like the complete anonymity - hell i reckon it could be a good getaway car - its bland bordering on featureless, no witness would be able to describe it!

Despite lots of people banging on about how much better the 1250gs engine is over the old 1200, I can’t tell the difference or feel the supposed extra power/torque.
Thanks
Rob
I think there’s an Emperors New Clothes style conspiracy afoot, now you’ve said it I can be honest too. Thanks
Rob

If cars had devices that detected the speed limit and wouldn’t let you exceed it, as long as it could be switched off on private roads, I wouldn’t be that bothered.
Everywhere? All of the time? Thinking about it, I would possibly object out of principle of it being further interference by a nanny state, but in terms of the concept of not being able to speed…….wouldn’t bother me.

I honestly believe in todays world there is not a single crap car to drive. Even the most basic, slow, built to a budget white goods appliance will cover all the basics to a perfectly acceptable level and it’s only car snobs who will decry otherwise.
I’d agree with you - I had cause to drive a Dacia Sandero from Birmingham to Devon a couple of years ago. It was slow, but the door shut with a solid think, nothing broke, it cruised happily at 70, and aside from the back pain it gave me it wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t a patch on the E39 5 series I had at the time, but that was a £40k (in 2001, so what, £60k when the sandero was built) car vs an £8k car. A contemporary small car of the E39 would have been a horrible, tinny, clangy mess, and the sandero was none of those things. ScotHill said:
When I change lanes on a motorway I'm quite pleased with myself if I manage to avoid rumbling over a cat's eye.
My Dad always tried to avoid them and now I find I'm doing it too! I prefer using Motorways on weekdays because although they are often busier most people seem to know what they doing, unlike weekends.
I'll always move over to allow motorcyclists to filter in traffic - probably because I used to ride bikes.
If I find a good clear road with no cameras I sometimes exceed the speed limit just so I still feel a bit rebellious.
Quite a few.
On balance, my wife is a probably a better driver than I am, but I'm better at parking.
I have no issue with people driving below the speed limit.
I have broadly lost interest in cars and driving. My wife does 90% of the driving now, and that suits me fine. A friend who owns a garage recently got a Lotus Carlton in, and invited me over for a drive, as he knew I loved them back in the 90s. But he's 20 miles away so I couldn't be bothered.
