You may be right, I was thinking back to a ride in an older Jimny, which was very narrow in the cabin, but it seems the Kei size regs have been relaxed slightly since then so perhaps the current model shown is more like a 'normal' car and less of a miniature.

There are two versions of the current Jimny, the Japanese kei version has tucked in bumpers and wheel arches to comply with the kei regs

Yes, however the metal bodyshell is the same on both, and hence the width inside the cabin is the same. That Jimny felt a lot narrower inside than a Series II Landie did.

However I agree that the cars pictured are more similar in size than as different as I'd thought.
