In 2021 Lamborghini built a one-off LP500 for a client - so now they have got the smooth, non air-scoop version working...
Well enough to trundle from its trailer to the judging podium at Villa D'Este and back, at least... I'm not sure that means it's sorted enough to serve as a daily driver. LotusOmega375D said:
The featured Countach replica is not pretending to be an Anniversary, it’s a look-alike 88.5 (basically a QV with side skirts). The Anniversary looked worse IMO.
That says it all really. If people on a car enthusiasts' forum aren't correctly identifying what this car looks like, then Joe Average in the street will have no idea. Most would take one look at the badge and take it as gospel.correctly DVLA registered in 2002”. Suggesting that this was when a 17-year project was actually completed. It has an IVA/ SVA certificate and - somewhat cheekily - is listed as being a Lamborghini in the online record.
Er, well, as Lamborghini clearly didn't make it, its not "cheekily" recorded as that, its "illegally" recorded as that and one day the DVLA may well catch up with it
Would look less smart with a Q plate forced onto it

No one bats an eye if a GT40 kit car turns up to a car show, and these mirage Lamborghini kits should be no different, as long as the ingredients used are good ones and not all sourced from a 1.6 mk5 cortina, no one will tell the difference.
I was also wondering why people are so offended by this Lamborghini. I'll be honest, even with someone posting the real one, I couldn't see the difference!I think the argument with cars like a Cobra replica is that they were fairly rudimentary to begin with, so the replica process is actually pretty easy to be faithful to the original.
Also, as someone has pointed out, you could actually get a genuine Lamborghini for £70,000. That can't be said for the Cobra, GT40 or Stratos.

Great pedantry, but I'm sure you understand my point really.
I genuinely don't think that you have a valid point. You can't get a Lamborghini for £70,000 but you can't get a Countach for anywhere near £70,000. I was being a little flippant comparing a GT40 to a Focus but the same theory applies, if someone is interested in a Countach they might not be interested in a Gallardo. I think this is especially true of people that would be interested in a replica as they're far more likely to value the style over brand loyalty.
This thread has disappointed me. I thought the petrol heads with a love for cars would have appreciated it even as a replica / copy.
I have a 205 Pug with T16 kit on it - it runs 4wd and 600hp Cossie set up...I think of it as an homage to the T16 and not a wannabe. It only seems to get appreciation when I take it out.

I am puzzled it states first registered 16th October 1985 but first registered with the DVLA October 2004, what does this mean then?Er, well, as Lamborghini clearly didn't make it, its not "cheekily" recorded as that, its "illegally" recorded as that and one day the DVLA may well catch up with it

Love to know how they managed to get it registered as a Lamborghini.
Also big gap in mot history, mot'd August 2016 and then not mot'd again until June 2022 then again in November 2022

Okay thread annoying me.
I would have to state that the car above is not my cup ot tea, but the hate for replicas, recreations, however you want to dress them up is terrible on a car enthusiast forum.
I find that people who berate these sort of kits have little or no understanding of cars or their mechanics. The amount of skill that went into making that kit posted was immense, and hats off to the people who did it. They created something that looks very close to something that would have had millions spent on its development and are driving around in something which is individual and interesting. The number of problems they would have to have solved making this can only be appreciated by someone who has actually tried to do it.
By contrast the people on this thread are probably driving around in boring euroboxes and probably don't know one end of a spanner from the other. They would probably spend a gazillon on an original mk1 escort which in truth was pretty poorly engineered, but is worth it because 'originality'
Nice kit, stupid posters.

Each to their own, I guess, but if you're going to spend this much time, money and effort on creating something, why not produce a unique vehicle, rather than one that still makes people go, "couldn't afford a real one then?"I would have to state that the car above is not my cup ot tea, but the hate for replicas, recreations, however you want to dress them up is terrible on a car enthusiast forum.
