A large delivery van didnt leave me any room on a minor road, causing me some wing mirror damage recently, cosmetic really.
My dash cam captured this.
I contacted the company, no issues really, and shared a couple of stills.
Now I'm getting mails from Allianz (their insurers) to upload the photos. If I do this, and continue the process, will I be potentially masked as 'high risk' or something else undesirable, and next year suffer a premium hike?

I very much doubt it -just send them the photos.

I would assume that even without the photos, the claim has been created in CUE, so you will need to inform your insurance company according to the T&Cs of your policy, and they will price your renewal accordingly. It might go up, it might go down. I doubt whether your CRM record will carry an undesirable tag biggrin

Many people have the opposite experience. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Tis indeed a weird & wonderful world, the world of insurance. yes

My other half was sat at a roundabout awaiting a gap. Some numpty steamed up behind her and didn't stop.

I had four cars at the time, all with different insurers, and she's a named driver. I thought I'd better tell my insurers. Three said thanks for letting us know, one said thanks for letting us know, that's £50 please.

Your dashcam still shows you were doing 28mph. Likely this would end 50/50. The only way you could claim the other driver was at fault is if you were stationary.

In my experience a no fault claim and a windscreen claim had no effect on my premium. It went down, although I guess I’ll never know if it would have gone down more had I not had any claims.

This, I'd be amazed if this didn't go 50/50, especially if a claim is put in for damage to the lorry. The lorry is quite likely to have a dashcam too, what speed is that likely to show?

You say it's just light cosmetic damage, personally I'd drop the claim and get it sorted yourself. If it went 50/50 you'd have to pay your excess anyway which presumably won't be too different to a mirror casing off ebay?

That road is too narrow for both vehicle to pass safely in opposite directions. Is the camera in a van as well... looks a bit like the bonnet of a van.

Looks like it is Red Lane near Aldermaston and on google maps it looks way too narrow for a truck + anything else to pass.

I'm not sure what the rules are under these circumstances.

This…..that’ll go 50/50 unless you were stopped, which you weren’t by the looks of it. Annoyingly I would just sort your own damage out and avoid a claim.

You are high risk - you drive at speed down narrow lanes apparently with no awareness of what might be coming towards you.

The bend shown looks reasonably gentle so you should have had decent visibility and had time to stop.

Here's an idea for you.

I had a suspicion there was something wrong with the idea of having an enormous truck in a little road like that.

At the end of Red Lane there are signs displayed to say no vehicles over 7.5t. If that truck is over the limit then he shouldn't be using that road in the first place and you win.

Unless they were loading, in which case they can, so 50/50 again.

As you've done a bit of searching already, try Googling "7.5 ton truck" and looking at the images.

It's in the 7.5t - 18t weight class. 7.5t is the absolute minimum it could be and if it were my situation I'd be happy to put in the time finding out.

Yes, they would have to show a receipt / delivery note or something like that proving it was meant to be using that road for making a delivery in that road at that time.

Would that really help? If you crash into a drunk driver it doesn't work to say they shouldn't have been on the road.

Indeed. Clutching at straws.
