I apologise if this sounds rude, but did you read the article you commented on?
I did and it suggests they will not do a coupe from the last 25 years, thus excluding a lot of other metal. The E46 is a completely different animal to a big useable saloon for the family. I had to sell my E46 years ago because of the lack of doors and bought a saloon.lotus116tornado said:

My other 2 votes went to the B7 RS4, as they just look so 'right', had the high revving V8, manual box, and allegedly actually handled etc. and on the VXR8.
I know it's not objectively the best, or even subjectively to most sane humans, but I think they're bloody great
Honourable mention to the Giulia and the ISF.

I think there's an argument that the mainstream E39 models made more of a seismic impact on the saloon market than the M5 ever did.
I had a 530d SE with a manual box and it was lightyears ahead of its competitors. It was winning awards and group tests right until it went out of production.
But, if the choice has to be a sports/super saloon then the E39 M5 would be my choice.

Just a heads up to the @Pistonheads team / @BenLowden - not sure what can be done but, a person can vote more than once from the same IP address if they just change computer.
maybe also works if you delete cookies? I wouldn't see this as a robust poll!T1berious said:
Nice list!
1) Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifigolio
2) E39 M5
3) W204 C63
There's a couple of Alfa Giulia's near me and they look just about perfect!
Same as my list. I would happily have any of these. I am biased though since I have finally (after 10+ years of thinking about it) bought a W204 C63 albeit in Estate form.1) Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifigolio

Would love a Giulia QF in the future though. They look and sound great. Definitely one of the best looking saloons of this generation.
Lexus ISF
Lexus GSF
BMW E39 M5
Lexus purely for proper NA v8 and unbeatable reliability which for me is a key component of a good saloon, I see it as a daily/trustworthy car so bs like engine faults etc would get on my nerves.
BMW E39 m5 simply because I believe it is the best 5 series ever built and while not stacking up to lexus/toyota for reliability I would still gladly own one.

It is far from guaranteed if you look at what won the best hot hatch from the last 25 years I reckon! Never in a million years did I expect the GRY to win that, so any car on this list is in with a shout of winning this I reckon!
In saying that I have really been enjoying these lists over the last few weeks though for sure.

Bit disappointed that there’s no vote for dog buses planned, given the level of interest in the Fast Estates thread. They’re a very “PH” thing, even more so than fast/super saloons IMO
Good point... the B7 RS6 Avant deserves its chance to shine, and I have a soft spot for the CLS 63 Shooting BrakeThey appear sadly to be a thing of the past with the march of the SUV/crossover EV, with only the Taycan Sport Turismo flying the flag.
