RE: Vote for the best saloon of the last 25 years!
Discussion
The fuzziness of eligibility that sees estates, coupes and hatches all deemed appropriate for this category does flag up the dissolution of the saloon as a mainstay of car buying, one of several forms giving way to the Soporific Ubiquitous Vehicle that now clogs up roads. The Cortina/Granada era was probably peak saloon and I can't imagine this category even existing if this exercise was repeated in even five years as it would either be so niche or so diluted as to be meaningless.
Funny thing is the cars in this list will be all-but forgotten by anyone but the most die-hard petrol heads in 10 years time. Same reason that all of the listed manufacturers are falling over themselves to create their own vision of the current best-selling saloon car which makes the entire list obsolete on a practical level. But an American EV isn't very PH so...

It's too easy to chose the usual German brands and not see past them.
An often forgotten or overlooked engine found in a few Lexus products. Not the most powerful V8 but for sonorous noise and uber reliable you have to consider the ISF and GSF cars. Exquisitely engineered throughout. Proper Q cars.
Other notable cars, the Alfa Giulia Quadrafoglio .. a car that finally brought the fight to the established German brands despite many false dawns. And I guess the likes of the Impreza and Evo that showed you didn't need a V8 under the bonnet to makes something quick and that handled properly.
I would still have the V8 under the front though ...

None of the above. The best saloon by a million miles is the Tesla model S P100DL. Astonishing performance and comfort outweigh all other considerations
Depends what you want from a saloon. Performance with some luxury and character? Not a P100DL. Performance totally devoid of any character or charm? Probably, yes.E90_M3Ross said:

The problem with the ISF is the awful ride. An often forgotten or overlooked engine found in a few Lexus products. Not the most powerful V8 but for sonorous noise and uber reliable you have to consider the ISF and GSF cars. Exquisitely engineered throughout. Proper Q cars.

As stated previously,IMO a Tesla should make the list. A model S plaid is a salon car which would keep all but the most senior of hyper cars honest. Like it or not, you just cannot ignore that level of performance, even if it doesn’t stir your own personal emotions.
But, I would go for a model 3 performance. Having actually driven one at length, it handles and stops well and is crushingly fast and responsive. Excluding the modern classics on the list which belong to another time, If your going to have a list with left field modern choices the likes of a Kia stinger on the list, an M3 performance should be there as it would make marmite of the Kia and certainly hold its own against the latest M3 or Giulia.
I think a lot of the good Tesla do is lost in the noise surrounding the company.

Maybe keep an eye on Which? Magazine for when they do "Best Domestic Appliance of the last 25 years"? But, I would go for a model 3 performance. Make the most of the school holidays and do your homework instead of writing utter tosh. A Tesla is the automotive equivalent of a fleshlight.E39 M5 all day long.
