Still don't really like the hatch and wouldn't spend £20k on one with that mileage.
I was imagining a price much closer to £10k for this car with 80k miles on it.

Another example of crazy money for a pretty ordinary car. Nuts!
Agreed, that's strong money, probably £12k ish. Lovely behind the wheel, but I have a real issue with the rear lights, yuk!

And what would the VED be on something of that ilk? Not to mention the mpg figures. Looks good, but not for me at £20k.

Prefer these to the saloons which were always too ASBO for me. Think they look great in a brutish, functional kind of way. But then I've always liked a left-field choice.

My middle son has a N/A 2.0 RX hatch which I really quite like.

I cannot imagine this is anywhere near ordinary as one poster put it with 4wd and 330bhp. Sure, not the best Scooby perhaps but be reasonable still interesting.

For less you could buy a STI with a forged engine and chassis mods.

Petty, but i always didnt like those rear lights, very aftermarket and cheap looking.

I remember them being a massive flop at the dealership i worked for, and the diesel boxer engine versions lasting about 20 miles before self destructing.
I still have one! Regi plate M888oto. It's on it's very last legs

I've had 2 WRX STI's so far and I've never had a lusting for a hatchback version, but the 330s is a bit of a unicorn car for me.
Why oh why didn't Subaru just put a 330bhp engine in all of the later models? It just needed that extra 30hp poke to make them truly rabid.

Huh ?.... Aftermarket took care of that from the beginning...

Do these have the chocolate engine or the stronger unit, as someone also posted, I love leftfield performance cars so in turn i really like this... Only if it has the stronger engine though...

They were all 2.5s weren't they? Which was the choccy motor.

Yea all uk cars with 2.5 have the choc engine which if go can cost 4-10k to fix depending on spec etc
2.5 engines since 2005-2018 all have the problems .....

Yep 2.5.
It’s a shame that subaru never fixed the issues as the extra capacity makes them nicer to drive day to day than the jdm 2.0.
For that sort of money I’d be wanting to see a forged engine by a decent builder. Even then I’d import a jdm sti or spec c for the cheaper tax and stronger engine as standard.

The Hatch back WRX just does nothing for me , I could forgive the Cosworth Impreza STI 400, because it has 400 bhp and anything within reason with Cosworth in the name can't be bad.

But this car even with 330 bhp just no at over £20,000 and white for some reason doesn't suit the Hatchback.

It was the asymmetric rear light on these that I think look awful. I see that isn't the case on the Spec C linked to above. Was that a factory or aftermarket change?
It's because UK cars had to have a fog light. Replacement lenses are cheap enough (and a red bulb of course)
Clear lights are still nasty though. Working out how to get rid of mine asap

Strong money for a car that's a standard model (that is, not an s202, 203, 204, spec C, spec C type RA, etc, never mind a 22B).

The hatchback grew on me a few years after release, and now I think it’s my favourite shape. But never liked them in white for some reason, in that colour they just seem unpainted to my eyes.
I'm with you on this - the hatch has also grown on me, but it looks a bit odd in white, kind of bare almost!

You can get red overlays for them. Looks miles better.

It's done 87k kms, not 80k miles as the article states, so around 55k miles in reality. Come on PH, not a hard thing to get right?
No it hasn’t. It’s a UK car with 77k miles at its last Mot - so 79k miles now.

Came so very close to going for one of these but In the end the Audi S1 won out with it's much better fuel economy & tax. The dullest of reasons but big costs do grate down the line.

I've got a turbo and non-turbo hatches and to me they are very good. Unlike the previous model (2002), which I also still have, there's hardly any rust after 13 years, whereas the previous one needs constant welding ever since 2010 to pass MOTs (we live on a farm so mud gets caked everywhere). Fuel consumption of all three is appalling but hey, it's a Subaru. The worst thing is the colours. For some reason they went drab with the hatchback, which I'm sure contributed to the negative press. But if you live on a farm and have to tackle muddy lanes all the time, it's still one of the fastest ways from A to B. And you can throw a sheep, bale of hay, or most other things in the back of the hatchback.

suprised to see it even listed as a spotted car & always described as the black sheep of the impreza family biggrin

ive had mine coming up 8yrs now in august and having had UK classic, and hawk STI before i can honestly say the 330s beats them hands down - though i use them as daily drivers - the recaros make so much difference you sit in them rather than on them but the whole package is great

mine has went through a bit of transform over the years but is more what you dont see rather than being the in your face type, and yes the engine did do as every 2.5 sti does, but i honestly cannot find anythign i could replace it that provides half as many smiles as this does. - it also cost me half the price of that white one back in 2015.
