A 911 will still often draw yuppie comparisons, even if the whole yuppie thing was decades ago.

Less so these days, but whenever a skoda driver mentioned their car:

‘Yeah, but it’s actually a VW underneath, you’d be stupid to buy the same car with VW badge for more money’

The S8 thread made me think, someone mentions that model and you can guarantee someone will mention Ronin, a fairly mediocre 1998 Robert De Niro film that is otherwise pretty much forgotten except for the car chasing starring the aforementioned Audi.

Its like it has to be mentioned, it is the law, same with these, even though they are usually not 100 percent true and often are just regurgitated Clarkson quotes.

What other examples are there ?

Porsche 924 - "Its got a van engine you know"

Chrysler Crossfire - "Looks like a dog parking its breakfast"

Jaguar X Type - "You are aware you are driving a Mondeo ?"

Fiat 126 - "We picked one up and turned it round"

Audi TT - "You a hairdresser"

Any MPV - "Looks like you have given up on life"
I haven't read the rest of your post yet - or the comments - the first line of yours was enough for me to comment - Ronin is a fantastic film!

Apart from that, carry on.

Any BMW mentioned on PH and apparently you have to mention if its an E46 or an E17 or whatever. No one else outside PH knows or cares

Any French car "Unreliable" because they know someone who once had a window regulator fail on a Renault Megane.

Any German car "German reliability and Teutonic Build quality" despite it using a litre of oil every 1000 miles, has a stretched timing chain and they are on revision 11 of the fuel injectors. "But listen to the door shut and critically damped door handles, it just feels like a (thin veneer of) quality product"
