I knew what it was in the first crop but it wasn't accepted, so I beat around the bush a bit but failed with what Cardle wanted I'll be amazed if anybody gets it right as I'm pretty sure Cardle has got it wrong.

Make, a lucky guess in two, but another fail on the model for me today.

Make and model in two; tried both sub-model/engine size designators then skipped to the end for a technical fail.
The final bit of the Cardle answer was only used for the later body style, never for this one.

Fail, according to Cardle. I only had two tries, Austin A50 Cambridge and Austin A40 Cambridge then skipped through. These cars were never a numbered series as Cardle's answer suggests.

How many times has the advice "keep it simple" been given?
Trouble is the two word answer could refer to any of five different cars.

It could and, fair to say, I would probably have failed had that been a requirement. It's also fair to say that the manufacturer never used anything to distinguish the generations.

Not the way that Cardle has, but they did use A40, A50, A55 and A60 in their brochures and press ads.

But for the Cardle car era, they used A40 and A50 alongside each other to distinguish between the 1200 and 1500 engine sizes rather than different generations; the Cambridge name was the qualifier used to differentiate it from the previous A40 Devon/Dorset and Somerset models. That “system” fell down with the A55 and A55 MkII Cambridge
