Oh dear...now you've done it...I can already feel the tremors of Nomme de Plum and GT9's testicles popping back in to their bodies with pent up rage...brace for impact eek

I just heard this and think it works well here.

Going to EV is like going from film camera to digital. Totally makes sense to me.
Or from valves to transistors.
Stick your japanese-made transistor radio on in the kitchen for a bit of Radio 1 while you're cooking.
Or go sit with a glass of something on a nice comfy sofa, put a record on (or an un-compressed CD if you want to be modern), let the valve amp warm up and really listen to the music.

How did you post this from your abacus?

I used my utilitarian PC. Currently replying on my iPad. Tech works brilliantly for convenience when you’re using words, same as EVs do for transport, but if I really want to get involved in something with words I’d read a book.

I'm a bit of an Hi Fi aficionado.

Sorry to say but my old analogue Michell deck with Origin Live arm and Dynavector cartridge completely outshone by modern Hi Res Digital stuff. My old analogue system with Class A amps and some old valve stuff just don't cut it.

Have you measured your room resonance and treated its accordingly? How about DSP?

Once upon a time analogue was better. Now it simply isn't if one wants to hear the music unbridled.

EVs are just the same.

Your post about vinyl was spot on.
As was the post about digital photography.
Same goes for mechanical watches vs quartz.

The only camera I use is my phone, Spotify is by far the best for me for music but I'll stick with my mechanical watch even though I realize that quartz watches are superior for almost everyone.

You can have your ice car as a hobby, just as your vinyl. As long as you realize it's a relic of a bygone age.

I don't mind a relic to be honest, and I'd imagine some folk might even describe me as a relic in fairness!

Some folk see electric cars are being cool for some reason, whereas I genuinely think the exact opposite of that about them though.

I can't think of anything much more uncool than a Tesla for example. Whereas some folk genuinely adore them though. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I love one liners. No evidence required,

If your more than 40 something live with your antiquated engineering. The rest of the world moves on. Hey ho! I like that I do not carry cash, ever. I use a laptop, tablet iPhone for all communications and drive EVs

Happy for you that you live your life in the past. Your children may find it rather amusing. I know the future will be better than where we are now. I suspect i"m a bit older than you.

Cool where did you get that from. It is an efficient form of transports which supersedes the likes of the Model T and subsequent common people's cars. I assume you do know what Volkswagen means?

As said, loads of people prefer some old tech in some area. Nothing wrong with that, as long as we recognize one it for what it is.

Same applies. Some would hear a loud V8 and think it's the lamest thing imaginable. I wasn't talking about cool or uncool, as you point out, that's completely subjective.

Wrong . Read the road tests from people who test cars for a living - they all love the Taycan.

I mentioned the cool bit because of the different generations of people that's all. When I was growing up a V8 was seen as cool, to me at least anyway. Whereas I'd imagine that the younger generation now see EVs as cool in comparison.

I can't understand the love for a Tesla for example, whereas some folk(obviously a lot younger than me) think that they are ace though, and that nothing could ever be better than them. They love the efficiency/the quick charging/the straight line pace etc etc.

Just different cars for different generations I think. I grew up with V8's, whereas folk today are growing up with EVs, so obviously the folk growing up now are going to prefer EVs, whereas they don't do much for me though, because I love and I'm used to V8's in comparison.

For me you just can't love both, and threads like this one prove that. You either love ICE or you love EV, and obviously there isn't anything wrong with that to be fair. You just go with your own personal preference I think.

Absolute rubbish. I've got both and I love both. Many, many people on the EV forms here have got a Tesla next to some sports car.
It's obvious you have some sort of personal axe to grind with Tesla specifically, but that doesn't make it any less of an incredible means of transport, same goes for this Taycan.

Indeed, or those of us who have been fortunate enough to own great ICE cars and a Taycan. Over time you develop a sixth sense on these forums, it’s clear some are clueless and bigoted, an awful combination.

I've just noticed that you have a Tesla in your garage, and yes I'm not a fan of them, but my intention wasn't to dig you out personally about them at all. So I hope you understand that. beer

Oh dear what have I done? I thought the film to digital analogy would allow everyone to appreciate each others perspective.

Anyway to add balance to my Taycan pictures, here is Chunky.

4.8V8 without a turbo. Had it for ever because I didn’t want to “upgrade” to the latest version.

What a ridiculous statement! The football-isation of cars. Of course you can, unless you are a child which I don't think you are.

I am 55 by the way.

Tesla, Jaguar FType, MX 5. All great cars for what they do.

What rubbish. Can someone love Ferrari and Rolls Royce? What is it you think they love about the Rolls? The engine?.
