He said "last shape" so I'm assuming that means the F82 generation. Interestingly I thought you could still get the current ones in RWD form but it seems BMW dropped that option sometime last year...

I've driven a few M340i's and they're an incredible all-round package so can imagine the 2 Series would be no different. I've warmed on the looks too although I'm amazed how big they are- I've parked my E82 1 Series Coupe next to a couple and it looks tiny! Still though, I'll have mine in the 'thundernight' purple and in pre-facelift guise with the old iDrive please. smile

I do have the F series Comp. The new G does have 4WD & the auto, but it is also more than I wanted to pay, likely also has the steering interference & I think the previous generation looks better.

Strong money especially with the original M2s being cheaper and the N55 cars being so reliable.

While the OG N55 M2s are more raw and fun by a considerable margin I’d say if you can’t have fun in an M2 you probably need to have a bit of reflection on how you really drove it and where. Especially compared to Porsche 981 who are so popular for basically offering safe and predictable handling.

I always described my M2 as a Fiesta ST for adults. However the ECU is certainly not tuned to make you a hero! Especially for a modern car you need to be able to extract it.

Incredible car but certainly not a car for everyone!

A know a few owners who have picked up these M240i and all seem to really love them as daily drivers. Offers were very favourable a few years back as remember being contacted regarding one.

Saw one of these today, funnily enough, pootling along down to Brighton and looking really rather a handsome package.
Not enough purple cars on the roads IMO.

White M240, debadged, XDrive plus 600bhp tune, very interesting everyday sleeper. Hmm

I'm now 32,000 miles into my M240 and 10,000 miles into my M2, obviously using the 240 far more as my daily which I did with the OG 240 and M2 which i still have, but this time my opinion has changed in favour of the 240 been the better of the two... yes the M2 is quicker but doesn't feel that much quicker where as the OG did,the 240 can be so easy and comfortable to drive but has enough power when needed to feel something special...driving

These seem to be retaining value a lot better then the old model which is a little disappointing for someone who likes picking up a used bargain.

Shame there's no RWD option. If there was it'd definitely be on my "buy one when the price has dropped enough" list.

Read the review and comments last night and thought, sure will give it the benefit of the doubt and maybe it's a real cracker. Then saw one this morning in my local town and thought nope, that is an ugly looking car however good the engine is. Shame.

Owned the previous gen M240i and I still consider it to be one of the best car's i've ever owned, currently have an F series M4 which probably is the best car i've ever owned but i'd still seriously consider a G series M240i in the future looks to me better than the new M2.

Had my Thunder Night with lots of options ticked for a year and 14000 miles.
Tested quite a few cars. Far better than m440 coupe (very dull). Better than c43 coupe (grandad wagon). Better looking than a m340. Don’t see many around. Four driven wheels is great and it has a decent amount of rear bias. Loads of boot space for a family holiday. Goes like stink (makes you laugh just how fast they really are). Super comfortable with the trick suspension. Good steering. 30-35 mpg in eco. It’s a do all car.
Had a replacement headlight unit due to condensation but the replacement has also failed. No other real problems apart from rubbish iphone connectivity.
Had mine (primer grey) for a couple of years and 22000 miles.
Going for new headlights next week biggrin
I went from an F82 Comp and very happy with it. Feels just as fast as my M4 did but without the madness, although it's probably not as good in the bends if absolutely bone dry comnditions.

No idea how you get 30-35 mpg !

Saw a few comments throughout the thread... absolutely don't understand the hate for big screens in cars, especially this 240i, most look ace.

I daily a 2019 M240i and love the combination of performance and economy and it lets me have a weekend fun car to enjoy as it isn`t too expensive to own.

I can see me getting one of these in a few years..

You don't understand people are revolted by something you like? Wow.

I personally don't understand how anyone has bought any BMW produced in the last 4 years, but here we are smile
