But it isn't really is it.

It's more like a expensive bottle of vodka compared to an expensive bottle of champagne.

It technically does the same thing, with a different level of effort, and different taste. Some people would rather drink champagne, some people would rather drink a fine vodka. The vodka drinkers think the champagne drinkers are all about show. The Champagne drinkers think the vodka drinkers are missing the 'theatre'.

So now you've comparing Champagne to Voda due to my flippant analogy. Well done

I'm torn because I like Maserati, but I don't like EV(although the torque figure in this does impress me though). I haven't got a £180k to throw away either, so I guess that it just doesn't matter really. Plus if I did have a £180k to throw at a car, I'd would definitely have an engine under the bonnet anyway for me.

Maseratis need an ICE. Otherwise they are not really a Maserati. Same goes for Ferrari, Lamborghini etc and the other greats. Yes times are changing but an EV Maser... Not interested. Perhaps many years into the future when there is no choice.

This is where EV's in general fall down, the long distance road trips. December last year I went Skiing for a long weekend, drove down in one go just under 800 miles circa 12 hours (0 degrees and windy) with one stop for diesel 4 up in my old X5. On the way down we worked out my wife's I-Pace would have needed 4/5 stops for a 1.5 hour charge assuming circa 160-180 miles range at 85mph, just not viable.

EV's are wonderful on a 50% of the range long bit of string from home, this Maserati is stunning but will anyone unless its a tax thing buy one over a V6 Trofeo?

Same as Mercedes (and others) it adjusts the amount of regen when you lift off the ‘leccy’

As to the Taycan, I think most civilians will think you are wealthier driving this over the much more common Porsche, as they obviously span a much wider price range.

If I buy one through my company I can take 100% of the value as capital allowances thus reducing corp tax.Or if I lease it a chunk of teh cost is saved in corporation tax.

Sure but it just doesn't appeal to me as a part of the experience, on this wet damp and cold run down rock.

Most of the charging would be done at home whilst you are having dinner, watching TV, etc. That easily beats 10 minutes on a freezing cold wet petrol station forecourt a couple of times a week.

Using planners like a "better route planner" for a car with 800v architecture for my trips from Cotswolds to Devon I need to spend 11 minutes charging if I leave home with 80%. Thats very similar to the time i need to spend at the petrol station filling up and queing to pay.
