Sold and shouldn't have:
BMW E30 M3 Cecotto, Lotus 7 S2, Volvo 780 Bertone, Volvo 940 (slightly tweeked, wife decided she couldn't drive it anymore and wanted a V70).

Should have bought and didn't:
Piper GT, Lancia integrale (there were 3 or 4 that I passed on!)

Was pleased to sell
Boxster 3.2S (was extremely competent but soul less), Jaguar X Type estate (most uncomfortable seats, should have been in the Tower of London)

These threads use hindsight to colour a decision that no doubt made perfect sense when it was made and generally are based around selling something that is now worth many multiples more as the main reason for the regret.

I tried to buy it back once. Around 2010 I was looking through the classifieds in Classic Car magazine and there it was! I immediately got on the phone but I was too late it had already been sold. The person I sold it to in 2003 had it up until 2010 then he sold it through the Classic Car ad to someone in Scotland who has owned it ever since.

Agree on the Boxster S. I was bored with mine within a month.

Don’t recall any issue with the seats in my x type mind and covered some long ass journeys in that car.

My wife bought this new in 1998. Drove it until kids came along 3 years later. It sat in the garage for about 5 years then in 2006 she decided to sell it to free up funds for a new bathroom. It had only 27000 miles and sold for £3000.
Sold to a guy from Jersey where it still remains. I've been in touch with the current owner and asked if he ever decides to sell it to get in touch.

Whilst that is often true, even though it would be worth several times what I sold it for today, that wasn't the case with the Commodore. After I restored it, for a few years after I used to take in on European trips where I would go to classic car shows and including the German Commodore club - it was the only RHD example they had seen! I loved that car and did lots of great trips in it, still to this day I don't know why I replaced it with a TT. Various other cars have come and gone since then all for good reason with no regrets, but the Commodore was different. But I learnt my lesson, in 2004 I replaced the TT with a brand new Monaro V8 (spiritual successor to the Commodore) that I still have today. I won't make the same mistake twice

It developed a warm-start glitch and as it was mainly used by my wife, she insisted on something more reliable.

Probably worth well over £20K now, swapped it for a Civic 1.4 hatch.

I love these little CRXs. I have been trying to find a decent unmodified one for some time, but they are rare in the UK. Most seem to have rust issues or have been over modified. I imported a car from Japan last year, but even there they seem rare.

I've been fortunate enough to own a few interesting cars over the years. But, on reflection, the only one that I truly miss is this:



My little Panda Cross. 0.9L of turbocharged charm.

I absolutely loved driving it. Nothing stopped it. To the Panda every raging ford was just a babbling brook, every muddy track and rutted, boggy field merely an inconvenience. It treated rain, wind or snow in the same eager 'let-me-at-them' attitude, all the while having a certain charm that I can't quite put my finger on, but which still resonates with me to this day.

An utterly brilliant little car. I miss it.
