Why does Venice have a motor show?
Was thinking the same thing.
Some of the best driving roads in Europe are in the mountains near Venice. Wasn't a Bentley launched there?
Think you mised the joke irony of the original comment, what with Venice being full of water ways and that.... oh, never mind....
You think?
looks like someone has taken an ugly stick to an old Lola T92 racecar (www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1992/Donington-1992-07-19-004.jpg )

Let me get this right, some of you think this thing is ugly yet you think the Zonda is good looking?
Well thank f**k most of you arent thinking of giving up the day job to design cars!

a) Erm, well yes, I am...
and
b) Yes, I do...!
The Zonda is really well formed, it's got good proportions (i.e. Not all but square Width v. Length), it's quite a pure shape (no unnessasary gouges or holes) has a few neat touches (the chrvon shaped nose, the Smooth cockpit-like, well, cockpit...) And very few blocky straight edges.
This is some ugly blocky little kit car-esque rep...
I'm sure a lot of these concepts (I'm also thinking of the Toniq R) would look a lot less disgusting if their promotors had the sense not to paint them white. I mean, there must only be about 3 cars in history which look remotely presentable in white, and at least two of those were made by Jaguar...

Another car that will dissapear into the ether - Ascari, EOS, Arash Farbouds latest, etc, etc, etc.
Absolutely right. Unfortunately to cash flow such a project will cost at least £300k out of the owners pocket. High priced cars are very difficult to sell unless the carbon fibre is superb as per pagani or they have a superbrand behind it or shed loads of cash as per Ascari,
I suppose what the hard part would be to make the car sellable and sustainable. Kristian Koenigsegge has sunk a lot of cash to make his company fly now, but he did it and the brand has a value. Klaas Zwart spent £25million to make his company start and he only produced a small volume of cars, however he now has an established brand BUT he has paid the price for the promotion and branding.
Eos seemed doomed as Michael Blaize has gone in without sustainable funding and a plea for cash which is so difficult to do. He may prove us wrong. However the car looks ugly but futuristic, which is what people desire.
Arash Farboud has done the miracle of putting GTS into production at the age of 26 (With the aid of Marsh and CO). His latest car seems irrelevant, almost as if he is having fun making super cars. Obviously he will end up selling a few cars to his mates and make another model in a few years time. But both his brands are clocking branding and sales especially GTS being now a world wide brand now. (Xbox 360 games and motorshows) He too has paid millions for it, but I think like Ascari it was pocket change.
Beck has made a fantastic car in the past as per thread and I reacon if it does make a prototype and goes onto top gear it will sell. I think he can do this. Jeez Koenigsegges car broke down so many times at Top Gear but it was still 'something different'
Noble is a success because Tony Moy funded his kit car friend Jimmy Price to make Lee Nobles well handling car. This was volume market so production was the key. The market was a bit drab as we only had TVR in front engine format and Lotus dumped M250. Perfect market postion
My look on this car is
1) Make a well finished car and launch to the press
2) Finance it to make to prototype level -
3) Promote it everywhere and try and fix the foibles. NVH is irrelevent at this market sector
4) The brand becomes famous naturally
5) Small sales naturally happen as it is something 'different'
6) Leave enough cash at the end to make another model to follow.
7) Enjoy but accept it will be a living rather than a killing. Buy property for the pension.
When I was growing up I dreamed of the Countach, testarossa, 348 etc. My dreams were shattered when I got to know them at a later age, but that was the stuff of dreams in those days.
These guys put their balls on the block to follow a dream. They inspire many and they enjoy what they do.
I cannot wait for the next super car to come out from India, China, Russia, USA anywhere.
They come and they stay in the history books and never go away. The superbrands only 'go away' into the rich guys garages but it is the public dreamers that make them desireable weather they see them on a web page or outside the manderine oriental london - but I bet you stop to look at the car outside the Manderine and that would mean that Beck has done his job as well as Ascari, Eos, Arash Farboud, Noble.......

I guess at least Klaas still has his GT3 race cars out there on a world stage to show for his investment. Shame the KZ1 has gone as a road car though. Good car but too expensive, never heard a bad word said about it press wise. Compared to a Pagani or Koeniggsegg the KZ1 was well priced for a carbon car but I guess there was something missing prescence wise - or maybe people were concerned the company wouldn't be around to service their cars in the years to come?
I'm sure we as observers don't appreciate the efforts these small companies make but most do seem to be 'one mans dream' - which I'm sure makes things harder at times. I bet even Pagani (must be the best of the bunch) didn't start with a business plan that would stand up to much scrutiny!

Have any of you who are giving this car sh!t for, well, looking like sh!t, given thought to the fact that this car was not designed to look good? It's designed to be aerodynamic, not win beauty pageants. If you want to do that, buy an Aston. And as far as I can recall, the Enzo wasn't exactly the greatest looking Ferrari ever either...
I think you have got the point here. Enzo was slated for the way it looked, but it is loved because it looks so outrageous like the Beck. I think the car will be well recieved. I think the real point is that we wish it success and that the company keep on producing great stuff as this is the stuff of dreams.

are you suggesting that it looks like this for function rather than form? If so why does it not just look like some bullet or a wing? Instead of something Stevie Wonder would knock up if he were to smoke crack and have parkinsons?
