Have any of you who are giving this car sh!t for, well, looking like sh!t, given thought to the fact that this car was not designed to look good? It's designed to be aerodynamic, not win beauty pageants. If you want to do that, buy an Aston. And as far as I can recall, the Enzo wasn't exactly the greatest looking Ferrari ever either...

are you suggesting that it looks like this for function rather than form? If so why does it not just look like some bullet or a wing? Instead of something Stevie Wonder would knock up if he were to smoke crack and have parkinsons?

Erm, because a bullet or a wing shape isn't going to work practically as a car??? Not that I'm saying this car is practical by any means, but while you're making that point, why don't you ask the same about the Ferrari designers? The Enzo obviously wasn't designed to be beautiful, so why isn't that wing/bullet shaped? I think instead of naysaying, we should wish them luck and see if they actually succeed.

you can also apply my argument in this thread to the monstrosities that ferrari are currently turning out, apart form that scaglietti

So all the diffusers and flying buttresses et al featured on new Ferraris are not there for function, they're just "something Stevie Wonder would knock up if he were to smoke crack and have parkinsons?". So what about the Ferrari F1 car, that's not pretty, and it's not the Scaglietti, so is that another monstrosity that Ferrari are turning out? rolleyes. Frankly I'm surprised someone hasn't already used the C-word in this thread...

my argument wasnt that things werent there for form but I am sure that if they wanted to, they could do it all and actually make it look good. Rather than something a 6 year old boy would pin up on his wall as I once did with the countach when I was that age.

I think that in the aim for what is a pointless goal they have lost the essence of the super car. Lambo introduced ridiculous styling to make a name for themselves as they needed to sand out, these cars would have looked good back then but today I fear they all look a little crappy. Now the Ford GT or McMerc do look nice, maybe they dont handle the same as the Enzo but they are true supercars and actually nice to look at.

The original Countach without the OTT bodykit, rear wing etc. still looks an awesome machine IMO.

yep, it is a classic, even with the OTT wings as it moved the goal posts by some margin. I feel it is unfortunate that it then set a precedence for super cars needing such styling

God... It looks like an Enzo gone wrong at the front - It's awful!

I'd rather not go at 200mph if I had to drive that thanks!
Mind you... one good point about going so fast is that people won't have time to see the horrid styling! haha

I think Ferrari got away with the controversy over the Enzo's styling because they could do it with a degree of legitimacy; Firstly they are Ferrari and not an obscure maker so the market trusts them when they are (Secondly) saying that it looks that way because it incorporates technology coming from a rather competitive F1 team. The Beck I don't believe has a huge chance of getting their money back because they can't claim such things. A wealthy Swiss patriot who fills his pants when trick aerodynamics are mentioned may be the only buyer.

I admire the spirit, and actually love the fact that there are people out there willing to have a red hot go. But some no-name manufacturers do a better job. How about this one?

www.seriouswheels.com/2008/2008-Galmer-Arbitrage-GT-Front-Angle-Open-Doors-1024x768.htm

Despite the fact I don't like it (the Beck) I wish them and all manufacturers success because it'd be a terrible thing for any of them to lose money designing interesting cars.

just needed to leave it at that really - it's the only reason they got away with it.

Hadn't noticed! But now you mention it... Maybe the 'cockpit canopy' raises and you somehow step in!

Oh dear...
We really could do better than that!!! We used to have Monteverdi. They build some nice cars.
Obviously I have to do it myself!!!!

You dont like it? Well you cannot afford it anyway, do you?
Stop slagging off people who DO things...Trevor did not talk about cars, he built them....and Lamborghini only started to build cars because he was pissed off with Ferraris arrogance, who built cars whereas Lamborghini built tractors...
Becks car is not to anyones liking, ok, but it is way better than the retro-unimaginative style crimes of Morgan...look at their recent designs, for christs sake....

You dont like it? Fine...but stop slagging off people who dare DOING things....
