You guys remember the VW Polo/Golf Harlequins? hurl

Oh god yes, there's a polo one that's still alive round my way looks like they just threw what remaining panels they had kicking around together.

There was a multicoloured civic too, varicolour or something?

Every model with a diesel suffix... Is it just me or do TDI, TDCI, DCI, DDiS, CDI and all the other ones sound like STDs??? "Can't come to work today mate, slept with a right minger last night and I've got a really bad case of TDCI..."

Vauxhall Nova "Spin" and Nova "Snap". You'd hope not, really.

There was actually a Micra "Wave". No, please no.

Bonus honours to the Japanese for the long, drug-laced nights in which they come up with names like Mitsubishi Active Urban Sandal, Mazda Bongo Brawnee or Mitsubishi Mum 500 Shall We Join Us.

I always wandered why VW often use sports to name their cars, polo, golf.

Not sure the VW's are named after sports - I think I read somewhere that they were all named after various 'windy phenomenon'.

I also heard the 'Harlequin' range of special editions described as 'perfect - for the terminally indecisive...'hehe

Some great ones in this thread hehe

MR2 was, in France at least, quite literally "crap".

yes

M R 2... Merde. Hence why it was always called MR Roadster in France.
Same can be said for the Pajero in Spanish which, IIRC, means tw#t or idiot.

Wasn't there a Skoda Lauren and Klement or something like that... Laurel & Hardy maybe... hooo I don't know.

The Pajero does not literally translate but it was deemed too close to the word for w4nker in spainish speaking countries
