Some rocket scientist has posted the reg number on Wikipedia?
Bloody mental midgets.
Hearing about this sort of thing tempts me to change the number, although I like the present one.

I hope you had a chance to enjoy the engine note, Borris.

Cheers.
Just nipped in and deleted the registrations I found on the main page, and put a note up in the discussion page.

I noticed that the whole chassis list is up for deletion too.

Is this not a re-branded "Flemke is this your Mclaren?" thread?

I don't know how to find the discussion thingy, but I looked at the main subject.

I'm amused to see the extent of inaccuracy about various cars, which is not small.

Thanks for deleting those things (even if they too were wrongwink)

Cheers.

Better tell QV500 then - they list all (OK, most) the chassis numbers and FWIW Flemke's already mentioned his chassis number on PH

I think you'll find that qv500 lists the original data from McLaren which simply gives the chassis no. and the original colour - no information on resprays, locations, owners, reg no. etc.

True - I hadn't looked at Wikipedia - does that list information on resprays and owners and reg numbers then?

Here she is.
It's OK Flemke. I have removed the registration number.
This was when the temporary wheels were fitted.

I guess you know that this very same pic complete with the correct number plate (not the Evo one) is posted elsewhere on the 'net. Actually the background gives the game away if you know what I mean....

Flemke, sorry if its been asked many times before, but is your F1 painted in Porsche 'Maritime Blue', or just a similar colour?

No, the colour I chose out of some industrial paint samples. It hasn't been used on a car before, so far as I know.
The actual colour is a couple of increments darker than what was used on the Tyrrells in '69, but it's of the same family
It's also of the same family as, but again darker than, the Bugatti blue often seen on the 37A.

Porsche M. B. is about the same darkness as what I've got, and about the same intensity, but it's slightly red (cool), whereas mine is slightly yellow (warm).

Thanks for the info. Its a colour that certainly suits an F1,
although i suspect most colours would smile

Having spent an absurd amount of time in the last several years trying to find a colour, any colour, that suits the car, I would beg to differ, sir.wink

A totally stunning car,
i fell in love with it the first time i saw it, and used to go down to park lane just to look at the one on show there..... a lot!

i decided a long time ago, that one day i will own one, and that dream will one day become a reality.

Flemke, i envy and salute you at the same time.

There's another one that lives near me, bright orange with high downforce kit. I think the owner also has a couple of other exotica in the garage.

They may be a relatively small car by todays standards, but they have SOOOO much road presence cool

Speaking of colours, is there a specific shade for McLaren Orange? It occurred to me the other day while reading the other thread that it would be an obvious (too ovbious?) choice. It then occurred that orange seems to be a fairly common (relatively) colour for F1s, unless it's just all the press pics of the one below and one particulr orange car that gets out and about more than most, and I never made the link between the car and McLaren Orange.

Are these cars below all the same colour, just different here due to lighting/cameras/film/digital reporduction or are they all different shades, are they even McLaren Orange (could the F1 be Papaya(?))

I quite like the orange as it appears on the older cars like the M6 GT there, pretty muted and as about understated as orange can be and being so ubobtrusive it'd allow you to see the shapes and lines of the car without distracting from them. I think it'd be nice to have a colour with a history and heritage to go with the car. It'd make a nice change from the garish and flashy orange F1s out there (the Kennedy car!).

That is of course, if the orange F1s there are aren't in fact McLaren Orange already in which case I'll hang my head in shame and scuttle of to study Driving Ambition some more.

Hold your head high, Uriel.

Thanks to the numbnuts in Brussels, the exact colour that was used on the classic McLarens (in F1 and Can-Am) is no longer achievable.

In addition, printed and electronic reproductions of colours are rarely correct. In this thread, for example, at least on my screen, the blue F1 and the orange F1 (both of which, by coincidence, I saw today), and the Maritime Blue Porsche, are all way out.
The reproduction of last year's MP4/21, or whatever it was called, is pretty good.
I've not seen that M6 GT in the flesh and so couldn't comment on it.

It's ironic that the best color for an F1 would have to be Rosso Corsa.
