I'm lucky enough to have driven two V6s for quite a while on some nice roads and yes, bags of character, a surprising amount of refinement and feels really special when you're driving it. It could do with a bit more power - that's my only criticism. Oh, and the parts rices are horrific! It's those Organutan proportions that I lack, and if I hadn't got of the car hobbling on numb ankles clutching my back I'd have bought one straight away smile

I've driven both the Clio and the Integra (the dc2). The Clio was great fun in a chuckable kind of way, but the Integra for me was the better machine. Better communication from the controls, more feeling of involvement, higher satisfaction from getting the most from it. More of a sense of occasion when you drove it, too.

306 gti-6 anyone!! I use one as my station car and it is just so much fun round the country roads, absolute ball! So far no problems to speak of. Best thing was it cost me £2,800!

If this is a series I wonder what the next car will be. CTR or MX5 I guess . . .

I might be being a bit thick here, but
Station car? is that a car you use generally just to drive to the railway station and leave there so you can hop on the train into London? confused

or idea

you work for the police force or fire service and it's a works car?

I have a run of the mill 1.4 Clio and my mum has a Clio 182 (plus Cup packs), which is pretty rocket like in the performance dept.
I'd sell body parts for a Trophy, as long as insurance was included! wink

yes Have driven a 182 back to back with my GTi-6 - they are very closely matched.
I absolutely love my Peugeot, it really is as good as people make out - like the Clio. Pointy, sharp, grippy. You can drive it on the throttle like a a proper sports car - it encourages you to hold the gears that little touch longer, the 6psd box means your never left struggling between gears.
The Clio has a touch more power, better seats, better brakes. But the Peugeot has a better driving position, lower down, 6 cogs. The best, and worst, thing about the 306 is that it is completely anonymous.

Note to the PH Webmasters - PLEASE sort the photos out. You keep doing this, and its hugely annoying.

Whats the point of having lots of great shots of your subject matter, having them clickable - only to open the same .jpg thumbnaail in a tiny window?

It cant be that hard to get some big (1000pixels plus) resolution versions on your server and link to those can it, really?

off your marks

I use it to get to the station before heading into London! As someone says above, it is totally anonymous so has not been touched by the chavs who hang around.

Thumbs up for the Trophy I say.

Just learnt that it goes even better with traction control off..

I've tried most of the french hot hatches, and, other than the shit build quality, everytime they are let down by the same thing - the seats and the driving position. frown

My first "hot hatch" was an AX Forte 1.4 (A GT without the alloys and spoiler to keep the insurance down) and even though it's probably the most fun and best handling car I've ever owned, I had to sell it after 3 months cos of the terrible back pain and aches I was getting on my hour each way commute. frown

It was a real shame as my commute included the Cat and Fiddle and loads of other great A and B roads! smile

Everything else about that car I loved. Shame.

Well, EVO seemed to prefer the TypeR over the Trophy too wink Not that I'm biased either...
Yes, the "proper" Type R though, not that breadvan thingy biggrin
Indeed, I was talking about the DC2 Integra. I will happily admit the Trophy is a cracking motor though and fully deserves praise! My better half has a 106Gti, another great handling French hatch imo. And I do mean handling, its not all about grip like the modern sanitised stuff, its pure chassis handling, great fun to sling along a B road. biggrin

EFA as we are comparing rare versions...yum

Although arguable as to whether the 306 is small enough really - noticed the other day they appear to be wider than a mk4 Golf

There quite squat - low, square and short. Mine is noticeably smaller than my previous Escort, and to drive it feels very small. Very 'placeable'.

My mother bought a 207 last year. I was amazed how big it was in comparison to my old GTi-6. Best car I've owned (not that I've had many...)
