My Rx8 has ISO-FIX as standard in the rear seats.
You didn't really mean to post that in a thread about the Ford Focus, surely?
Why not people with other cars have stated if their non focus car has isofix or not?
My old 911 did not have isofix.

hi
"isofix fitting kit"
we have a focus on a 53 plate !! phoned dealer and they say there be no kit . only on focos models made from sept 2004.

i'v been on loads of sites for advice too.

but whilst searching some sites mention ."remove plastic bungs under rear seat" well .
hey presto , there be said bungs on a late 53 model.
bought a kit for a 54 plate focus , and fitted it to a 53 focus no probs
.£15 and bloody easy to do

Thanks for the info on how to do this - the dealer had wanted £85 for what took me 20 minutes. The hardest part was getting the bungs out (needle nose pliers help).
Managed to do it alright without taking the seat off, nice long T50 helped.

Here some links:
The part: http://www.fordpartsplus.net/product_details.aspx?...
£15 + £5postage, I couldn't find it cheaper...
Torx head key set: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000LFTP1Y/ref=...
nice and long so can get to the bolt.

Thanks again Beanfeast for the description and harryhaddock for the pics.
Cheers,
LS

Thanks to the postings on here I have successfully installed isofix brackets in my 59 plate Ford Focus, the previous owner of which must not have asked for them to be put in on purchase. They were £16 each from the dealer plus a set of torx keys £14 from Halfords (Ford quoted £120 for purchase and installation). I didn't remove the seat backs so it was quite fiddly; a T handle on the key for extra leverage would have helped, but still very do-able with a little help from my hubby.

thanks for this info on the Isofix Ford Focus retrofit it really helped.

had trouble finding the link initially as it says Isfofix Instead of Isofix but the search engine got there in the end

as for the install the pictures really helped... I DID TRY TO REMOVE THE REAR SEAT, but gave up, however fitting the new plate was do-able with my 55 plate hatch just had to push the cushions up to make sure the threads didn't get crossed but WOW its made a huge difference to the stability of the Britax unit once installed

I wasn't sure about the upside down fitting (Ford Badge being upturned) but sure enough bars to the bottom of the screws was the right way to go

all in all it took about an hour (including the abortive seat removal) but definitely worth while

Thanks for the info on here, we have a 53 plate Focus estate, we were just about to have our 2nd child, thought i'd best check the car seat fitted, sure it would, we had the same model for our son (Silvercross Ventura), tried it in the car but the belts were about 12" short, what could I do, just brought the complete 3D pram system & the seat did'nt fit the car. Seat was previously used on a Mk6 escort which had longer belts.
After hours of google searching I found this site, checked the plastic caps were under the back seat, phoned Ford & to my amazement the kit was on the shelf, 2hrs later & £150 lighter the seat was ISO fitted in the car (£15 for Ford kit & £135 for ISO base), fitted the kit in Toys R Us car park, did get some strange looks as the back seat was on the car park floor.
Thanks to this post my now 2 week old daughter is safe & secure in her seat.

Any advice on keeping her quiet at night or is that for another forum??

Found it quiet if i stay in the garage smile

can not believe how much easier ISOfix is than seat belts, no more rain running down your bum when putting them in the car looking for the seat belt clip

Indeed - my daughter is 11 weeks old now and we have ISOFIX bases in my 1 series and my partner's Focus. Makes life so much easier.

Oh, and good call on staying in the garage smile

Has anyone tried this on earlier Focuses (or should that be Foci?)?. Both grannies have mark 1 Focuses (a 99 reg and an 02 reg) and wondered if i could fit the ISOfix fixings to their cars too as they will be looking after the little man one day a week each.
It would make it much easier to swap the seat over if i can simply get one seat and three ISOfix bases, one for each car.
Thanks.
