Fantastic! Every single nut and bolt of the car is legendary.

I still remember my first run in a Cosworth like it was yesterday.

Shame on you who think it is rubbish / has no class!

i love my old jelly mould with a wale fin so ner!

after reading through the forum i felt the need to reply
stop being a child "my scooby is faster and lighter" woop woop i got to admit just by you saying that has impressed no really can you do wheel spins too? yes im sure you can, i think ive seen you pulling out of mcD's with your little girlfriends lol

Stop picking holes in what has earned its right to put the road rep on the race road and kick ass and set a mould that has almost died off
You i suppose were born after its release so would have missed out on the fun in the late 80s

you can compaire it to loads of cars thats the easy bit i can find fault in every car thats even easier, except i find on the rare occasion i will type about stuff i like insted of on forums that i dont like so who is the strange one here? do you even have a car?

hats off to all cossie fans its a true drivers car even more so in this day and age

Im sure they drive fast, but you're sat in a old Ford, with rubbish dash and interior, so who cares if it goes fast, it's not like you get to sit somewhere you'll enjoy the ride.
The best seats i have ever sat in for comfy fast road driving were the leather Recaro's in my Sapphire Cosworth, they were brilliant, far better than the seats in the Bently Continental R i had the pleasure of driving on a few long journeys last year.

Not doing much to help the "it isn't really that council, honest" cause, are we smile

Yet to see an example of the lesser-spotted-well-cared-for-Cossie in the wild. Seen two in the last week. A Saphire, and an Escort. Both stters.

There is no shame in adult education. Get an A Level. Get a better job. Get a decent car. Then think about restoring a piece of motoring history to it's former glory.

It is like claiming you have shagged Marilyn Monroe. When she was in her prime, then bow - but digging her up and doing it 46 years later isn't quite so cool. Know what I mean smile

Performance icon, was preferred to the E30 M3 by many and rightly so.
I doubt many here have driven one which is likely given the UK recieved less than 2000 of them.No wonder it was a joyriders dream literally-they are such a rare find unlike the gte/gti/xr/mg which were the real contributors to premium hikes.

Ive been lucky enough to drive all the cossies apart from the RS500 and Rouse sport models and the 3dr stands out as the best,it is much more special than the saph and not as naff or plastic as the escort.

They are such unique cars to own and drive.

I owned an original Moonstone Blue 3-door Sierra Cosworth between 1986 and 1989. It was standard and cost around £17,000 as delivered.
Can you remember the reg of your 3 door just wondering if its mine D545BRP???Or does anyone know the history of D545BRP??????????
...............

If anyone's interested I'll tell the rather different tale of my 1984 Sierra XR4i - now that was really interesting... Ford really did produce some fantastic cars in the '80s!
Nice post - I'd be interested in hearing about the XR4i as that was the path I followed into Cosworth ownership ( mostly for insurance reasons but partly because I wanted to try an XR4i for myself as well after a friend's Dad had one smile )

What sort of reviews did these and the three door get when they were new?

I cannot help but thhink some rose tinted specs are being employed?

Does anyone have any links to the original magazine reviews?

They took the world by storm. It wasn't until later in the Sierra's life, circa the Sapphire, that sales started to slow and you could get one without a wait. The Escort Cosworth was also an awesome effort, but never set the world of fire quite like the original three door. They were very well received by the press at the time.

And I believe they were £15950 when new. Went with my dad to test drive one when they were launched. Fastest car I had ever been in by a long way at the time,

But he bought a 944 instead.

Had the 2wd Saph, and the Escort, but never scratched my 3dr itch frown
Same here, had a couple of 2wd saphs, a 4wd saph and an escort cosworth. Driven a few 3drs but never scratched that itch either!
