majority of components on this car are chopped, changed or altered porsche. Engine sharing such as the audi is one thing but is another

How boring, yet another lookalike. Any one can build a car that fast in a straight line and they will keep coming, thats the reason even though the SSC is the fastest car (which the veyron never officially was) no one really cares about it. I think people are forgetting what a great all round package the veyron is. No point arguing my case to much most here will know what i mean and the Porky fanboys could never understand.

Doesn't make it a Porsche still - Parts don't really make a car, it's how you put them together that makes a car. You could give me access to all of Porsche's parts, and I wouldn' tbe able to make something that moved, let alone performed well.

As for the SSC, completely agree, top speed is great for top trumps, but if it can't be exploited without having to check with your insurers that your wife will get a good payout, or can't do corners faster than a Fiesta, what's the point?

My fury has the (back of the) drivetrain, brakes (well hubs, disks/drums, pads/shoes), suspension design, steering rack and column (inc. switchgear) from a Mk 2 Ford Escort. I can assure you that it isnt a Ford Escort!

shinobi what exactaly do you mean when you say the veyron was never "officially" the fastest car..... are you a little crazy? It was the fastest sports car, it was tested on Bugattis sorry i mean VW's test track in Germany at over 400km/ph.... what else in standard factory trim is quicker......

It was independantly tested by AutoSport/TopGear and others which i can't be bothered to google... I'm not having a pop at all it just seemd a daft thing to say?

if i remember correctly the Veryon was never recognised by the Guinness World Records or somthing like that for some strange reason?
love the 9ff though, brillant, mid- engine format and so many horses from a 4 litre!? that's the power of forced-induction for you...
and i've no issues with the styling either...
maybe porsche should make more GT1's then?

I really can't believe it will do 250mph stably without any wind tunnel testing! An off at that speed really would be catastrophic.

Still, props to this company, as it's a great achievement.

Mainly a poor quality petrol issue though, wasn't it? Porsche have apparently been using it since 1970. I'm sure there's a good reason for it - heat transfer and no space for liners perhaps?

~1000bhp from a 4.0l road car engine is very impressive, but not quite the pinnacle of forced induction madness. That would probably have to be the similarly powerful 1.5L F1 turbo engines smile The lack of wind-tunnel testing seems a bit odd on something like this - I'm thinking of the Mercedes CLR which almost certainly spent many hours in the tunnel, but still took off at Le Mans.

That rear end is rediculous, look at the size of the exhausts!. What a machine and I can't believe its only 4 litres!. Whats the SSC 12 litres or something?. How many rediatiors does this one have? I can imagine not as many at the Veyron.

It has done so already http://www.need4speed.ws/essence0.html I think Chris Harris summed it up best when he said although great(the chap from EVO said it would stand a fair chance of winning ECOTY) the GT9 really highlights what an achievement the Veryon is. Dont forget its just as quick through the cones as a CGT. I love how nuts it is

Uhh, if you just wanted to go mad and save several hundred thousands, then get an Ultima GTR and tune it to a 1000hp. It'll blitz this. Take a look at the Sweden Ultima GTR with under a 1000hp that gets to 211mph in 19 secs.
Yeah the Datum twin turbo will give it a run for its money smile
