Great cars (but then I'm probably slightly biased). Have had one for 2.5 years and it has been excellent.

"Performance these days is often measured on outright speed and Nurburgring lap records but the CS makes these things seem rather insignificant. "

Exactly - why can't the majority understand this! For example, everyone raving on about the GTR being quicker round the ring than the 911 Turbo, blah, blah. It's about how a car is to drive and how much fun you'll have doing it! People seem to forget this nowadays smile

Indeed. And, on the road at least, having fun at vaguely legal speeds.

One of my biggest disappointments in the Sagaris over my old Chimaera 500 is that, by the time the Speed6 engine has come on song and you're getting some decent performance, you're already way overdue time to back off.

The amount of fun you have is directly linked to the speed you can do! smile

AND the acceleration you can get!

Each to his own!! I have two 968's a 1992 road going coupe, with a few added bits and for the last 2 months a racecar (ex EMC & using it in PCGB races).

Yes you can get cars with much better power to weight ratio, yes you can spend much more or much less than a 968 for a decent road/trackday car but when sorted the handling is just superb.

I am no driving god, but the car does what you ask of it, if you get it a bit out of shape it gives some decent advance warning and you can then drive past the problem.

I like to do some of the spanner work on my cars and find them easy to work on - spare parts aren't at silly prices. Yes, there are known problems with pinion bearings and camshafts. My advice on these is a) use SWEPCO gear oil in your transaxle b) make sure a reputable indy does a camcover off check of the camshafts/chain/Variocam every 20,000m or so.

NB I just had some instruction and now know how much faster it can go!! Roll on my next race.

You have to punch the air after catching it on particularly lurid slides though...wink

Unless its 'comfort' spec. in which case there will be rear seats also. The genuine 'CS' seats are valuable (£1k/set?) so some owners who find them restrictive or uncomfortable have reaplced them with normal seats.

I found the CS seats very comfy, and wider than the Recaro Pole Position. However I am 6' 2" tall, and the CS seats are mounted high. I couldn't wear a helmet in the car without removing the cushion.

I find CS seats way more comfortable than "comfort" seats. No lumbar pain with CS seats after a couple hundred miles.

Better sell my Eunos then, as it'll be no fun whatsoever by those criteria...wink

I must admit I really like these - I reckon they would make a great second car. Looking at the featured car on the traders website, the price of £11,995 seems pretty reasonable for what looks like a clean (if high mileage) car. Any experts agree?

It's in the right ball park, depending on condition and what recent work it's had done. Being an older car, they cost a few quid to run, so make sure this hasn't been skimped on, as if it has, it means the bills are all being saved up for it's next owner. Mines in the garage now having a rear wheel bearing done, oil cooler pipes replaced, CV gaiter replaced and new bushed in the front ARB.

You'll find private cars for sale from £8k upwards, and whilst there might be some bargains out there, you'll generally get what you pay for, and I still think the good cars start from £10k upwards privately, and a grand or so more from a dealer.

High mileage isn't a issue, so long as it has a good history and has been well cared for. Mine runs a lot better for me putting 20k miles a year on it.

It isn't really. Best fun ever round the 'Ring was my old 2 litre Ford Transit tow van, an absolute blast!
Clubsport's are completely at home there.

No, no, RUF are a maker in their own right. LOLwink

PPC Mag stripped a 928 out and managed to junk an impressive 400kg or more, making it altogether more svelte at just under 1200kg

Well I own a late 944 lux, and the 968CS is probably the only car on my upgrade radar. I do fancy a 911 yes, but a bit too expensive for a pauper like me, and also I know how good the 968 chassis is alreadywink

'zactly!

As an owner of a 944 S2, I hear all the enthusiasm associated with the 968, and wonder how different it really is to my car ... I have never even sat in a 968 ... perhaps I ought to try one, one day. (Either way, it would have to be seriously much better than my S2 to justify a price tag twice as large ... )
