To be honest I didn't actually pay a great deal of attention to the forecourt stuff (although there's a shedload of cars available) - I was preparing my arguments for the inevitable chipping.....!

It's a risk/return situation though, they take a punt on each car, so they have to offer a mickey taking offer, and hope that it's accepted, then they bin the car for a £50 profit. DO that enough, money rolls in. Some they will win, some they will lose.

They "offered" £25,000 less than I actually sold the car for.....and I sold it to a dealer for an outright cash sale!

My company currently offers car sellers 100% of their cars market value and charges no fees or commission. We have been proving the model over the last 16 months in the Reading area. It works very well for the company and for our clients, who want to sell their car but dont have the time or inclination to do it themselves or sell at a ridiculous price to the likes of webuyanycar.con

We are developing a plan to go nationwide, with what is a fair, honest, courteous & professional alternative to the solutions which currently exist. We are hoping to get some PH members involved.

I will post more details shortly.

Leaving aside the fact that you are blatantly advertising, do you mean 100% of their cars market TRADE value? I don't believe for a second you are offering 100% market RETAIL value as you'd make no money. Bascially you're offering no more than any of the millions of car dealers out there who will offer trade value for cars all day long.

Bought my car at the start of the year for £3500, and that is a fair price.

Quote on that website is for £1825. Are people really that desperate to sell cars?

I think after a certain date they start quoting comedy prices.

When I was trying to sell my X1/9 (it's sold now, thank God), despite it being in superb rust-free condition with numerous modifications to make it more reliable and fuel-efficient, they offered me £100.

I sold it the other week for £2250.

I wouldn't say cluless at all, dispicable blaggers preying on the the stupid or desperate maybe, but no t clueless.
well most dealers use a price guide book ie black cap or glass,s guide these monkeys were no where near the trade price on my car, so lets see how long they last in buisness.

Firstly, thanks for your comments.

However, if I were blatantly advertising, surely I would have included a company name, web address or some sort of reference to who we are and how to contact us.

Secondly, I apologise if you read my post this way.

Thirdly, we do not offer 100% of the trade value. There would be no USP in that and my blatant advertisementwink would be of no value to anyone whatsoever and would be a complete waste of time.

We actually offer 100% of the private sale value of a car (as determined by Parkers Price Guide).

This way there is no financial downside for the seller versus selling it themselves. But without the hassle and frustration typically associated with selling a car privately.

We are not altruistic hippies or a not-for-profit organisation, so I appreciate your cynisism and your instinct to tar us with the same brush as the "millions of other car dealers...".

We just believe in doing the right thing by people and are tired of a UK automotive industry, which is rotten in every way and has a deserved reputation, worse than estate agents and lawyers (oh and the Brown government).

With the right approach and the right attitude, things can be so much better for the car buying or selling consumer, who should be treated fairly, courteously and reasonably. Our desire is to go nationwide with this proven new approach and invite the decent, honest, intelligent car loving folk of PH with a desire for the same to get involved.

ATB and thanks for reading.

Thanks.

However, where is your profit? you won't have much of a margin and would need to factor in a number items that all car dealers have. I don't see how you can do this if you're buying your stock at retail prices.

If not "blatantly" (maybe too strong a word!) then why not remove your link from your profile.

Many will be cynical since you've just registered (purely for this purpose I guess) rather than a regular Pistonheader trying a new business.

I'd say give it a chance. If you can realistically give people Private Sale value and still make money yourselves, then all the best. If there are companies such as WBAC operating on giving people the least and, from what I've read here, most ridiculous valuations - and they are getting business, then it stands to reason if you give people better valuations you could take that business.

Hello Dracoro,

I understand your point.

I have been a very regular visitor to the PH forums (it's a good read) but have never really been inclined to register and post.

I won't pretend that my recent registration has nothing to do with my plans to try and recruit the most intelligent, knowledgeable car people from PH as associates. Any thoughts as to how I might go about this would be appreciated.

I think I need to go back to Sublety College banghead

The webuyanycar.con thread was too good to miss and it invokes such passion in me and the desire to change how the car market operates today. I am working on it.
