I used to think they were amazing... until I drove one. From the outside still beautiful, but close up, it was all a bit plastic and the interior was like been sat in a MK2 golf, with horrible ofset to the pedals. It also didn't feel that quick either, although it did handle very nicely.
It changed from been a dream car for me.
That's funny, it had for a long time been one of my ultimate dream cars. That was until a friend bought an F355 Spyder with the F1 paddel shift. It changed from been a dream car for me.

Not only did it spend more time at the dealer being fixed than on the road. It was bumpy, didn't sound that good with the hood up will riding in it, didn't feel that fast (although it probably was), rattled, creaked, shaked, pain to get in and out of and had some rather dodgy build quality issues in the cabin.
However it looked fantastic and sounded great to spectators.
Think you have pointed it all out in your post 300bhp/ton: -
You were in an F1 Spider...
All convertibles of the 90's have scuttle shake issues and the flappy paddle boxes were still in development.
Try a manual hard top and make your opinion again, maybe it will be a dream car once more!
The 360 was apparently designed to be able to go over speed bumps, which is why it looks like it was dropped on one from the front. The F430 is a fine car but realistically I could only afford a 355 in the next couple of years.
ps I think blue eyed boy was in an MR2 without knowing....

The one I drove was a hardtop, and the build quality issues seemed to be there in that one. The plastics were terrible. It also didn't feel that special in there. You were in an F1 Spider...

It's still a dreamcar, although in a poster pin up kind of way. Don't think I'd want to own one though, just look and listen to one is enough You were in an F1 Spider...

I have an f40 and have to say that the 355 is mysecond fav ferrari ever. Just like the f40 its not perfect in terms of things do go worng and some of the finishing could be better but who cares. If you love cars then you can't help but love ferraris and in my opinion the 355 is one of the best
Its not the quickest, not by todays standards but that missing the point. Its thw whole experince of being in such a special car.
I am going to buy one at some point. That is a particularly nice one I must say.

I suspect you will find with as with all cars there are some good examples and bad examples, certainly in mine there is no scuttle shake and no rattles I guess it comes down to how they have been looked after in the past
It isnt that quick either even my subaru's faster !!!

Guys, just beg, borrow, scrimp and save like I did. It is worth EVERY penny. nfi if I can afford to run it but will cross that bridge when I come to it.
Have to agree with most, if not all, that's been said on here already. 355 over a 360 or 430 for me any day of the week. See the link above for some snaps i took of Cactussed` new toy and what i said about it !Guys, just beg, borrow, scrimp and save like I did. Great car but tooooooooo delicate for my liking which is a shame as looked at getting one last year when the 993 C4S went.
I think, apart from the heritage/noise/emotion, the issue with reliability and corosion coupled with astronomical repair costs put a lot of people off, that aside looks feckin fantastic

Was selling these new when they were launched, massive step up from the 348, build quality good (for an Fcar), amazing noise and looks, we had a 3 year waiting list, people were owning them for a year and getting their money back,
Problem now is finding a good un' and when you do it wont be cheap
For me the visual difference between the 355 and the 360/430 is clear to see, it's where the designer put down his pencil and some YTS kid got hold of a computer to do the design for the next cars!
Last saw one on the road at the weekend on the way to Silverstone for the F1 - truly amazing!
