What's it like for insurance? I had trouble at my last address with my wooden "garage". It was basically a glorified shed to be honest. Insurance wouldn't cover the car as garaged. Had to insure it as on the driveway.
There was also an issue with having a wooden structure containing anything flammable within a metre of the property boundary.
Not meaning to piss on your chips BTW!
You are best off not insuring as garaged as the insurance can be invalidated if your car is stolen at night off your home driveway as it should always be garaged. It is fine if away from home. This was explained to me by A Plan insurance brokers. There was also an issue with having a wooden structure containing anything flammable within a metre of the property boundary.

Off topic, but the picture reminded me that a mate of mine bought a bike lift a while ago. During its assembly it collapsed and shattered and almost severed his big toe. Not nice.
yes.. this has occurred to me many times... fortunately the lift has some hefty safety locks that click in at various heights. However, I am currently building an exhaust on a bike and tacking it in situ, which means I was sitting with my legs under the ramp.... I still put an axle stand under just to be sure!arguti said:

Nothing flammable is kept in the garage- none of the products you can see are
Finally finished my garage this weekend!
Although it's just a single (2.6 x 5.0) I seem to have got the majority of our crap in it in addition to the car (Exige so built shelving with the gap underneath for it to fit into) and the daily commuter motorbike:
Shame I didn't have any more room to add more shelving/a tool bench!
Next intention is to hang the carpet offcuts I've got on the floor behind the car on the walls to cushion the car when getting in/out

I've got literally the width of the bike left over at the front, lucky being mid-point in a block so I've got enough room to get it in - the lack of steering lock is an issue though! (well that and the oil leak which I hope doesn't drip on the car)
Couple of forwards and backs and I'm in - would be easier to park the other way around but would then catch on the door when opened/closed - needs to lean over the car

Where are you getting the units from?
I got them last month from Costco. They were a Hot Buy for £800 but it's not on there anymore. Closest one I can find is this one and quite a lot more. Looks like I bought at the right time.

Currently in the process of decking out the garage with new units, PVC flooring and painting the walls white.
That flooring looks fantastic OP! Edited by Composite Guru on Sunday 22 October 21:04
20 or so years ago a mate and I built a garage next to my house. I bought some allegedly wonderful 2-pack floor paint from a firm that shares it's name with a shonky old British truck-maker that ended up owning most of the British motor industry - the first time I put a motorbike on it's centre stand it went straight through the "wonder" paint.
I ended up putting doormats under the bike stands!

I wanted to avoid using paint. The stuff just wears out over a few years of hard use. 20 or so years ago a mate and I built a garage next to my house. These are COBA tiles from Screwfix.
6m x 6m cost me £850. I think it will pay off over the next 20 years.
