Where had it been?
Children had it as a den, now grown up so I get it back as a garage.
Your children had some bloody odd toys...

Big week for my garage!

Then time to get the floor sorted with a 2-pac epoxy resin:-

I like your floor eltax, do you mind me asking where you got it from? Resincoat or similar? I'd like to do the same.

This is the house we've just bought, with a long overdue double garage for me to play in.

It's 5.2 x 5.3m internally, not the biggest but better than the single I used to work in.

I had the pro’s come in and do it. For my area (6.2 x 6.3) it was £480. I found the guy through a mate who runs a large factory nearby and this small firm look after all his workshop floors.

It’s epoxy paint that they supplied. It wasn’t resin coat on the tin but when I enquired what they were using they said it was ‘the same stuff but trade brand’

Best I can do I’m afraid

That's great information, thanks. That's quite a bit cheaper than I thought it would be, might just get someone in to do it.

Thanks again beer

If you’re in the east/ West Midlands drop me a PM. The guys I use were out of West Brom and came to mine in Leicester

That’s the same size garage as mine.
I thought mine was pretty big for a new build. Loads of workspace.

Thanks for the offer chap, I'm up in Yorkshire so probably a bit far for them. Good pointer though, might be worth asking around some local workshops.

Well that's good news. It's a circa 2002 build, and I was quite surprised with how big the garage was. Difficult to tell without equipment in though, so it's good to hear you find yours suitable - it certainly looks the part, nice car too thumbup

To be honest I think having the kit in the garage gives you more of an idea as I don't know many that have nothing but cars in the garage.
The Elise is a small car and is a great size to have in that garage. I can reverse it in at an angle and get all around the car with ease.
If I had some of those wheel trolley lifts I could get the car 90 degrees to the doors and have masses of space to work in.

Ain't that the truth! Mines 10m x 7m and currently has room for one car in it!

Moved last year into our first home and finally set about making the garage into something i've always wanted.

Its a single but is big enough to get my 330e in and you can still move around the whole car.

full sweep and clean and everything off the walls

First coat of Dulux Weathershield Pure Brilliant White (Smooth), as you can see the bricks and blocks needed a second coat. WE also laid it on pretty thick to fill the small holes in the breeze block wall nearest the house

Second coat and bottom half had two coats of Dulux Concrete Grey with a rough border between them

next day using a laser line and some frog tape marked out the stripe

Stripe painted in X99 Dinner Jacket (Dark grey) from B&Q mixing desk

Everything put back to where it was.

Next stage is to put the dark grey floor down (interlocking tiles)
42inch Rollcab turns up next week
then building a fold-able workbench and french cleat storage wall

Finally got around to starting my dream garage.
Live in a conservation area, so that, along with the totally useless planning dept., has taken years to get it passed,.

Anyway - footings in:

That all looks very nice, are you planning to fit an electric door closer...good to see a Workmate one of the most useful things to have in your garage.

The plans look good! Is there a separation wall between them or will it be one big open plan garage?

It is open plan, but the garage to the left has a door and window in the side, so I will probably breeze block a workshop area that will be easy to warm up in winter and may decide to divide the garage again.

I certainly won't be short of space - it's nearly 7metres deep!

Very very nice indeed! Looking to be a great work space! You could even just get a thick insulating curtain to divide them. Surprisingly effective at retaining heat after a quick blast of a fan heater.

Since you're in the very lucky position of building from scratch, can I urge you to consider recess a scissor lift into the floor.

Even if you dont have much head height, you can get the car wheels off the ground and they're not expensive.

Best thing I did.

Good idea, or even just a stud wall. I'd love a separate place I could do all the dirty jobs that create havoc in my single one ...
