I've been doing some work to my largish single in the past week or so. I had an old set of kitchen units down one side but they were too deep (albeit the work surface was a nice real wood one) - so I threw the carcass out, built a frame and sliced the top down and now it goes all the way along - helped by some loft boards. Used the offcuts for some shelves. Shifted the Datsun banner and moved the TV up and across a bit - just in the interests of more space and some easier storage. Put some more sockets in and also added another light up top. It's a nice place to work ... double glazed as well, which I did last summer with units from ebay.
Looks great, practical and you wont mind dropping greasy bits on it.That's a proper garage.
Unlike the ste on that TV show

Those shows just make me cringe. The people in them really are the worst...That's a proper garage.

There was one recently where a young couple were looking at houses between £4-6.5m and their net assets on companies house are £17k
The guy on the garages show is just trying to flog his latest development, I’ll bet he hasn’t even lived there a month.... already talking about a new house down south. He’s just a flipper looking for exposure.
It’s just tragically desperate!!!

Perhaps they run a small business for fun because they've already got plenty of money.Perhaps they run a small buisiness and had an inheritance.
Perhaps they run a small business and won the lottery.
We have a friend who works in a design office, but lives in a £3m house because he's spent 25 years renovating, flipping and trading up.

The worst people are the ones who judge others for what they enjoy, not ones who spend money on a garage.
Well if you enjoy wasting everyone’s time viewing houses youCan’t afford just to pretend you’ve got loads of money and to get on telly then I reserve the right to judge to infinity and beyond.

Keeps the dust down. Bare concrete will always be dusty.
I just roll straight in and out, no need to steer on the concrete floor. Cant say there has been much dust over my 10yr use.
The garage was built about 45yrs ago and the concrete floor could be just as old.
As stated earlier, no cracks or damp, is there any mileage in applying a sealant if I am not bothered by the small amount of dust.

It's probably moot but many businesses (successful or not) will show next to no assets on companies house. Depends what the nature of the business is.
Not wishing to make a big fuss of this as my point was light-hearted, but net assets is a lot wider than ‘things you own’. It is all assets (cash at bank, debtors, stock etc) minus all liabilities, money owed to hmrc etc. It is a pretty all-encompassing measure, that’s why I used it.
Net assets of £17k is titchy.
