Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads?
Discussion
Not up to the standard of some of the garages/showrooms on this thread, but this is mine.
It's a detached large single garage, and I assume it's the same age as the house at circa 110 years old. The garage is for the weekend car only, there are a couple of brick outhouses set behind for garden stuff and wood.
The garage was empty apart from dust, lots of dust when we moved. Over the last couple of months, between other house things I've done:
- Got all the dust and other st off the floor and walls
- sanded and oiled all the exposed wood
- wire brushed the brickwork down
- PVA'd the walls
- made a bench
- made a car cleanings stuff storage unit out of one found in an outhouse
- laid foam jigsaw tiles
- fixed rubber to the walls at door openings, and
- laid leftover jigsaw tiles on the mezzanine for hardtop storage.
Pleased with it, not the biggest garage but I can walk around the car and get in and out easily... well, as easy as possible to an Elise with the roof on!

Cheers
I toyed with painting the floor, but it would need a few days to a week to cure properly so I priced up jigsaw tiles. I got them off ebay for about £55 to do the garage with a few spare. Easy to put down, only took a few hours. I took a snap on my phone midway through before my fingers froze!
Gunk... I would be a single man if I brought another toy home!

Looks a cosy little place that - what door do you have on it - can you put some more pics of the floor up please? Always interested to see what people are putting down. What was the PVA on the bricks for, to stop any dust?
It has a up and over door, there are still the old hanging points for the original wooden ones. The PVA was a 1:5 PVA/Water mix in one of them pump-up garden sprayers. Yes, it was to prevent brick dust. I couldn't bring myself to paint the brick, it's how it was intended to look and someone had pointed it rather well a long time ago.I toyed with painting the floor, but it would need a few days to a week to cure properly so I priced up jigsaw tiles. Have got a link to the floor tiles on eBay?
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F262842226550So far happy with them, they seem to keep the garage a bit warmer too. They wouldn't stand up to axle stands or jacks but for parking a car on they are spot on.

I could have sworn I saw both of these out on the road at the same time somewhere in Essex today. Spectraflair totally caught my eye. I've been tempted to get my Z3 done in gunmetal spectra but I'm on the fence about repainting to non-OEM colour
Here's one to share.
Apart from an epoxy floor in the workshop side, it's pretty much complete. It's been an epic job, not made any easier from having to re-do a lot of the stuff the 'builder' should have done. The garage was already built when I bought the property, probably by someone who was paid in bananas. The plus side of that is I got the opportunity to make the job right.
Much too much to go through without a protracted post so I've put it in pictures.

Thanks also for the link - they're just what I need. Now I just need to find someone selling a decent colour (i.e. not "wood effect" or purple) that can sell me 400sq ft of them that would be suitable for car use!So far happy with them, they seem to keep the garage a bit warmer too. Awesome job done and even more awesome cars! Perfect set up and the best of both worlds. Liked the little link created too! Enjoy! Not mine,I'm from the Midlands and they have been in the garage all day.Spectraflair totally caught my eye. I've been tempted to get my Z3 done in gunmetal spectra but I'm on the fence about repainting to non-OEM colour
When the sun shines on the Spectraflair it comes alive,I haven't driven it yet when I haven't heard someone say "look at the colour of that car" "What a lovely car/colour" ... I've only done 1500 miles but seriously every time I've been out someone has mentioned it.

These look great. How do you put them down, do they need fixing in place? Any movements or dislodging when putting the car on and off? Also did they come with edging pieces, or buy separate?I toyed with painting the floor, but it would need a few days to a week to cure properly so I priced up jigsaw tiles. They come with plenty of edging strips. The sides of the garage hold them in place. Really easy to install, a stanley knife, square, rule and a board to cut on; https://youtu.be/vacrLQiE93ECheers!!
They are pretty soft though
Not sure I'd have them on the floor - I suppose you could put wood down for the jack etc ...
I have a few on my bench I work on top of ...
The hard plastic ones are nice but to me are pretty expensive - more expensive than porcelain tiles in some cases to buy!
