Come on, back on topic.

I thought we were discussing the 911/Boxster?

Nothing better than getting your arse out in an old 911 and sliding it around.

You have more trouble in a Boxster because of the mid engined layout. Its lighter on its feet, if you will.

See? Topical stuff.

Look at that, I deleted 2 entire pages of posts, and the thread is better off for it.

I don't want to lock this thread so please discuss the topic at hand.

how many members of the public would even know what a cgt is? i am not keen on lambo or ferrari replicas but i can guess that a certain demographic would be impressed / fooled by them

Unfortunately you forgot to delete the most offensive bit - the car being discussed.

Absolutely - and that's the "wow" market that the OP is pandering too.

Cars like the Carrera GT are "wow" cars not just because of how they look, but because of the knowledge of what they can do, what they represent, the monetary value etc. etc.

To fake one aspect of that denies all the other parts (the good looking, the what it can do, the how it sounds) and therefore does not give the complete package.

Are you able to buy replica panels from porsche themselves ?

did they not provide turbo bodykits for the 911 ?

this would then be a 'sanctioned replica'

the point i was trying to make was does the punter in the street even know what the original is and what it is capable of? the replica ,maybe sadly ,is not accurate enough to fool people like us,and i am of the opinion that the cgt is not well known enough to fool joe bloggs in the street. might be ok to pull some dodgy pi$$ed up tarts outside a club on a saturday night though

when advertised they always say 'turbo bodied'

could the same not be applied to the boxster bodied GT ?

But on the CGT rep such a play of words has not been used, it is specifically badged up as a "carrera GT"

ETA: you couldn't even call it CGT bodied as they aren't official CGT panels where as I am assuming the turbo bodied 911 was a factory option with official turbo panels?

Having had to clean coffee of my screen - twice - before I could post again.

Porsche probably do sell replacement CGT panels, wouldn't fit this though.

Same with the 911 Turbo, you would need to change under-pinings as well before the look was complete, at least on older models with wider track.

The OP has ignored many attempts to get more information on the specs/prices of both cars he has advertised, sorry pictured here. Nor stated where his business model plans to take him. Is this a show car for more traditional replica/GRP offerings, or better something original based on donor damaged Boxsters?

Nobody doubts the hard work, just the direction or focus of it.

I don't have any problem with replicating the appearance (the 3.2s is afterall no slouch in it's own rights) as people do just want the aesthetics of a certain vehicle but this doesn't replicate the cgt - it's a vague nod to the original at best, unfortunately though attention to detail has left it sadly lacking in the wow factor on that front as well. Just asked a colleague for his opinion (as a chap who can just about recognise a ferrari if it's close enough) and his response on the rear end was... unrepeatable without much use of censored

No because there is not a base model like the 911 that you can tick the options box, the GT was as far as I am aware a one off, not based on any other platform.

This is a replica of a car on a completely diffrent scale, model everthing he may as well have tried to make it look like a Caterham.
