I fitted a new engine in my Marina, forgot to reconnect the earth strap to the engine - what does it do anyway?

When I turned the starter motor over, the return path for 100-200 Amps or whatever it is was the throttle cable, which quickly melted and seized solid.

I drove it home using the choke knob, max speed around 20mph, how the other motorists laughed...

thts awesom but have u watched the video of the guy driving?
before the throttle cable breaks, he hits the limiter in every gear. Probly wasnt the cause of the problem but if your guna chap it in every gear then your car deserves to break. ken

Aint just rally drivers who do that...

...had to do that on the Sagaris a cpl of years ago, except I only had 2" of frayed cable wire to use!
