The RNS-E Satnav is from A3/A4 not the A6.... /pedant mode
that doesn't make you a pedant, it makes you a dork :-PNever sure about the roofless versions, they look too front heavy to me (like the zonda).
Wheels look too fussy too, something more minimalist and sharper required I think.
Having said that, still a great looking car. Maybe with orange interior.
Love the review especially having just bought the same in may08 and having had it modified by the factory including numerous carbon parts and detailing ......
Recommend anyone give one a spin, better than buying a house at this present time if you can't buy both i'd say .... oh, and way better than an investment plan! Car = lose money = but have fun. Investments = lose money = boring !! sweet.
- 8mpg. Weirdly i seem to get way less - can only describe as on par with a previous seriously modified 550bhp evo 8 - fully stripped for dragging - that just drunk fuel as if it were George Best. With fuel now on the down and down great .....

It amazes me when you look in the classifieds how few manual Gallardos there are. The gearchange on the manual one i drove was fantastic - really positive, nice feel, great drama from the open gate, just brilliant. Plus it behaved itself in hot weather traffic much better too.
Kinda screws up my plans of ever getting a second hand manual G really!
Especially as the Lamborghini boss was quoted a few months back as saying he expects that they will stop manual production in 2010 as demand worldwide is now less than 5%...

There's a lot of waffle written about the e-gear type systems and much of it is due to the fact like with most things on a car, you have to learn how to use it properly (and accepting a gallardo thus equipped is not a fast car in stop start traffic also helps; anything with a real auto will eat you for breakfast).
I commuted to work in an 06 model e-gear gallardo coupe for 12mths, SW12 to central london. You have to be dilligent / gentle with the throttle and let the car get the clutch fully engaged before giving it much gas. With just a little practise you can get this to happen remarkably quickly and at v low revs if you are gentle. You should never have a smell of clutch - that you were tells me you'd face large bills if the owner and that perhaps more judicious throttle use until the car is rolling would have been wise. Similarly on slowing down most owners engage neutral and coast to a halt. Certainly being in neutral at most of london's painfully long lights is the best way, selecting gear just as the lights change.
As for full bore shifts - did you even try in sport mode? Wince inducing for the mechanically sensitive.
It was my first robotised manual type car and I found it really rather good - certainly much more involving than a paddle shift equipped auto box a la AMG etc.

Lots of good stuff
I agree with what you say, but I still prefer a manual... For me it's the same with all these types of gearbox that i've tried. Preferred the manual 'box on the F430, Aston Vantage, Gallardo, Audi R8, etc etc.
Guess i'm just a manual kinda guy...
Happy motoring all!

P.S. As a side point I've just returned from a 3000 mile alpine jaunt in a loan S6 (which has the nearly the same 5.* V10) from Audi UK and what a perfect car for it was. Sounds sooooo different to the Gallardo...
