Ignore him. I can't work out what his point is either. One minute he says he hates people who drive 4x4s and then he brags that he drives one in Thailand. Totally incoherent.
in Thailand they are required, they have purpose, they do go off road., guess you never been out of Europe?
Indeed but a Range Rover does the same thing with more style, better comfort and more space, more reliability (I could go on) than a Toyota Vagina or whatever it is you drove, wouldn't you agree?

Cars, my friend, are for getting from A to B. That is the lowest common denominator. Car fans, like most of the people in here, do not settle for the lowest common denominator and want style, space, performance etc etc. We all wnat these factors in different measures. We're all different. You have about as much right to grumble about someone driving their 4x4 as I do for any of the other stereotypes that aren't true e.g. granny in the micra, Gary in the XR3, the plumber in his white van.

By the way, when I was in Thailand they had metalled roads, motorways and everything. You make it sound as if you can only cope in Thailand with a 4x4. We all know that's about as true there as it is here.

I was just thinking the same thing! Merc fan's responses are incredibly measured and calm (and spot on!) yes

dear oh dear, I was told that PH was very clicky, how true.
and as for Thailand if you stick to the tourist trail and avoid adventure by going everywhere on a Tourist Bus you obviously will only see Kooh Saan Rd , Koh Samui and Krabi.

I have a 3km drive through a Padi Field to get to my home.

A Range Rover more reliable than a Toyota Vagina....please!!!! come on have a bit of knowledge!
Even Top Gear Nonsense makes that very clear.

Its like people here are trying to create reaction and judging by there profile haven't alot to back them up.

as for the new engine...not sure, sounds good, will let you know in time.

Happy Easter!argue

The words are English. The sentences make no sense though. I am at a loss. Shall we leave it there? It just gets boring when it becomes an insult swapping sesh. Have a lovely Easter Belfast Boy.

Read about this a while ago, surprised it's on sale so soon:

The 2010 Range Rover is the first to feature 'dual view' infotainment touch
screen technology. The display allows the driver and passenger to view
completely different images simultaneously. This means that the passenger
can enjoy a DVD movie while the driver follows navigation instructions, all on
the same screen.
The system uses patented Parallax Barrier technology to alternately hide and
reveal columns of pixels to the left and right hand views of the screen.

Surely the new TDV6 will be more expensive than the outgoing TDV6?

Who are they kidding with the number plates on the press shots?

They're on the rear, but none on the front. Anyone know which mythical market doesn't need front number plates?

I know it's nitpicky but if they'd just design the front end of cars to look good with a number plate in the first place...

Aside from that - not much change here, but better interiors are a big help and the 3.0TD is a belter.
If your a candian motor dealer you don't need front plates.

Met a guy once you brought a chain of dealerships for that very reason so he could keep his RUF Porker in Germany with no front plates.

I hate the idea of 4x4's for the road
Then you need to spend a day driving your wonderful road car in Islington, an inner London borough where the streets have been designed as a test track for Land Rover. Where every pot-holed and crumbling road has speed bumps and where your average sports/enthusiast car will last a few thousand miles before requiring new shocks, springs, undertray, oil sump etc.

Edited by audidoody on Thursday 9th April 14:04
You want to try and drive any Road car between Bangkok to Koh Chang and see if you still have your undertrays intact...bloody Islington?hehe
People just make up excuses for owning SUVs - 'but if it snows my kids will die in a normal car!!' 'don't you know the roads are a bit bumpy?!' ect

imo if you're breaking sumps driving over speed bumps either your car's been excessively lowered or you're going too quickly
Well, after a lifetime of owning enthusiast cars (GTV's, S3's, XJS, 993, TT) the penny dropped that there was absolutely no point in clinging to the dream of a sports car in the capital (where I unfortunately do most of my driving). My passengers complained about their teeth and spines being rattled. I was fed up with illegally-high speed bumps and pot holes. installing new shocks every two years, and the inability to exploit the cars' power except when out of the city (and even then rarely thanks to the scameras etc). My frustration increased when I took the TT car to France and realised how joyously smooth roads and motorways should be. So one day. spur of the moment, I popped into the local Audi dealer to test drive a 2.5TDI allroad. It was bliss. Like wearing shoes that fit after walking around in a size too small. It is (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION) a perfect car for London. Air suspension soothes out the awful road surfaces, automatic ride height works out when the car needs to be lowered, plenty of grunt in 'SPORTS" tiptronic for quick overtakes, and a relaxing long-distance m'way cruiser. Having once derided 4X4's as stupid status symbols I am now sold on their ability to minimise the sheer awfulness of driving in the UK. And the reason I am posting in this forum is because my next vehicle is going to be a Rangie!

Cayman-Black The test driver said the engine was superb and very fast, however, when I first came up behind him on the A1, he put his foot down and was marginally quicker than me (I am presuming he had his foot flat down, mine certainly was). He did mention consumption being just above 10 MPG which can't be right as it is supposed to be far more efficient than my 4.2 S/C which returns 17.5 MPG

is that supposed to be humour?

if you went to geography class you might have known that NORTHERN IRELAND is part of the United Kingdom.

just like Scotland and Wales but then again, we dont want to Generalise?
