People that are looking at Audi S4's, BMW 335's etc. etc. aren't going to be interested in that no matter how good it is or isn't

Skoda Fabia

Vauxhall Insignia

I saw an Insignia the other day, admittedly it must have been a base model, but couldn't get past how much the front end reminded me of a Fabia front end.

As a PETROL head I am happy to see Opel making such a car. The base model may not be pleasing to the eye but this certainly is. Atleast it looks like its going to be quick where as the S4 is just another Rep S line.

I will look farward to it being quicker then the S4.

30K? Just who is going to buy a £30K Vauxhall?

I'm sure it will be in the highest comapany tax band/VED band too.

Seem to recall that these retailed at £48k when they went on sale. I am sure you think the LC's were rubbish too.....

"I'm sure it will be in the highest company tax band/VED band too"

Yeah, because I am sure that was the main consideration for Vauxhall when designing a 321 BHP 4WD Audi RS4 chaser.

Could be wrong Damo, but word round the campfire is that you are on the wrong website wink The Prius owners' club website is thatta way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

IMO, the standard Insignia is as ugly as a box of ugly frogs. Having said that, there is a brutal and slightly naff charm to the VXR - a refreshing 'ying' to the teutonic efficiency and 'yang' of the Audi and its ilk. It'll probably be crap, and I know what I would rather have parked on my drive (hint - it would be used and german), but if I was in the market I would certainly take a close look (as long as it came in black and it could be fettled to 500bhp).

Yeah I hear the Monaro and the VX200 and the VXR8 are rubbish... Evo even went on about how well the Vectra VXR handled, compared to an Evo and Subaru on the same test. The Corsa was well recieved as well I think.

So yeah. They have all been shocking....
Beat me to it. Evo were very nice about theie long term Vectra.

I don't think it is going to chase the RS4, you probably mean the S4. You would have to be a nut case or own a tree with money growing on it to throw £30K at an insignia.

As for the lotus Carlton, you are comparing oranges with apples.

My comment with the company tax band was just point out that it was hardly a feasible option for company car owners (with which the majority of insignia sales will be) and that I just can't see anyone wanting to part with £30k of their own money on a Vauxhall.

Thanks for the directions B.J

321Bhp...4 wheel drive and 0-60 in 5.8 seconds...how much does this thing weigh?

I know 0-60 isnt everything but this seems very poor.

I love the way everyone on this forum follows suit, FUGLY seems to be the key word, compared to what I ask ? Compared to every other D sector car out there it is a simple handsome design that does not look like it is going to date like many other of it's opposition.

321 BHP - 4wd with Rear Bias, isn't this what all Petrol heads love! and it will ride and handle better than expected by the majority on here, no doubt at all about that.

I think that is a nice looking car, however they would do better if they at least redesigned the Badge.

It really is all about the badge for the Merc/BMW/Audi brigade or everyone would have a 556bhp Caddy right?
Faster and better handling than the German offerings????

Excellent styling IMO, seen one in the flesh, was lush*.

*probably a fancier way of saying that like dynamically flowing or something.

hmm they just did

Have to say I like this, don't have any badge issues myself, so if someone would like to buy one for me run it in for 6-10 months I'll have it. In white with a roof rack will be perfect for clearing the line of traffic in front on the M roads.

Interior makes me feel tiny as well, amazing such a big car only decent not masses of interior space but still yeah I would.

That looks even better, only issue is servicing where? and what about getting hold of obscure parts quickly.

Other than that, it looks great

Couldn't agree more!
Having read the above comments, 'tis hard to believe that some of them are coming from a motoring website; more the Prius appreciation society.

It may not look great, it may not have the best badge ever, it may not be the lightest most nimble driving tool on the market.

But a mainstream hatch with >300bhp and comfortable seating for 4 and their luggage, that can be driven to the shops or to the south of france by anyone is a great thing.

Vauxhall deserve some applause for having the balls to produce a car 25 people will want to buy when everyone else is trying to sell econoboxes that do eleventymillion mpg and slow us all down to save the planet.
