I already know how good a VTEC can sound in our Civic 1.7. It must sound much better in NSX. yes

It is a shame some people are badge snobs, they miss out on many great cars including this, VW Pheaton etc etc..
I'm seeing one of your Civic Coupes every morning at the moment, they look quite brilliant.
I'm really the opposite of a badge snob, I went to see a 320d at new car time and couldn't help thinking that it was a little bit st, fine, they're meant to be good to drive, everything seemed to be good quality and it would be great on fuel. I just wouldn't be able to sit in such a dull place every morning.

Volkswagen Phaetons are bloody amazing!

It is a car you either understand or just think "60k for a Honda, you must be mad".
I'm firmly in the 'you must be mad' bracket. I still don't quite understand them, same as the Nissan GTR.

shout__carlove__ - I really like the Civic at the moment. Looks great! Although, at the moment I am seeing a white Audi RS5 every morning. hehe

I like the BMW 3'er interior. smile

Today:

2001 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S

Link.

A guy mentioned about one at work while talking about the Fiesta ST yesterday. I forgot about these!

So, I know that they have a chavvy McDonalds image, but I have heard that they are really good cars. I assume they rust around wheel arches like any Fiesta of that era, or are these different? What else to look out for? Any owner reviews out there..

I normally wouldn't look at these, but they seem cheap (start at 800) and look good fun. What would the insurance be like as a first car?

If I were to buy an example like the one in the link I would change parts to get everything looking standard, like this:

Insurance for a Fiesta Zetec S as a first car? Very, very expensive if you are a guy, if you are a girl it will probably be quite reasonable.

Still looking at E36 328i BMWs today, they are lovely - can't wait to buy one! biggrin

Get the Mk4 Fiesta but with the 1.25 engine in. It's a great fun little steer and the engine's a little corker, really suits the car well. Also - considerably cheaper insurance (and Tax) I suspect

Going back to the NSX, which would you rather have, a Ferrari 348TS or an NSX? I had the former and was lucky enough to try the demonstrator NSX at Donington back in 1992. On the first lap I was several seconds quicker than in the Ferrari, the gearchange like a knife through butter compared to the notchy 348; the handling all of a piece and not edgy, the whole car oozing integrity instead of a badly thought out and badly designed car. Servicing cost in the day were 300 compared to 1,500 for the 348. I could go on, but I think you'll get the drift.

I've never owned one, have often thought about it and regret never having done so, and I doubt I ever will now. But don't knock them; they are and were without doubt far superior than any similarly priced up-market car with a snob badge. It was in fact only the badge that put people off I think.

I already know that era rust, as my sister had two Fiesta's. I have yet to try an insurance quote for me.

Regards the 1.25 that someone suggested, I have thought about those and I know they are great engines but these look soo appealing at the moment. smile

Stupid question - someone has made that from 2 cars themselves, haven't they?

Didn't think they made an E46 M3 saloon...

surely it comes down to "Income" and "disposable cash" ?

someone looking at first cars, who's current steed is a BUS, can obsess about something costing 400 that will bring freedom and cost 2k a year insurance.

A company director for Red Bull, with a fleet of high end models from BMW/Audi/Merc is probably going to be lusting after considerably dearer stuff

Good point. I didn't see that on small iPhone screen.

Still nice nonetheless. smile
