Yeah thats true, but its a ford so it will have the new RevoNuckel steering arms like on the Rs, should be fine with just FWD.

I doubt it will be any good- two blokes making a car, then a bit of NOS and expect to do go around beating records.

Good luck, however I sense epic fail due to it not running right.
Really hope that is another missed tongue in cheek moment.

Or is that actually your opinion?

Why is it that the British always have such a pessimistic atitude to all things engineered in their own country?

Thats what really infuriates me about Top Gear, when has there ever been a British car on there that hasn't "been built by someone in a shed"....or does this form the basis of your "arguement" ?

Practical with the speed and the need for downforce at those speeds!

Sounds amazing - is this on TV or online anywhere? Definitely an event I am interested in - bonkers!
For reasons I have yet to figure out Pikes Peak has no TV coverage at all - even in the US. Why on earth one of the major TV channels doesn't cover it instead of wasting money on other rubbish is beyond my comprehension.

One of, if not THE, greatest hillclimbs/special stages in existence, yet most people have never heard of it (and are never likely to with no TV coverage).

Taken from their website :

"MDV Specialist Engineering have considerable experience with RS200s and earlier this year they stripped the car down to the bare chassis. Their main task was to loose as much weight as safely possible. Using all their race and rally experience they managed to beat their target of 100 lbs. The 2009 car now weighs in at 2,315 lbs (1,050 kgs) ready to race, with a full fuel tank and with the driver on board."
fk me, that almost F1 Bhp Per ton territory but with the Peak you do not get the handy of run off areas a F1 car gets, only a 1000 foot drop. eek

Not sure about that, there is a young lad in a Corsa round my way that puts that wing to shame. And going by the smug confident grin he's always sporting his corsa makes more power as well.

I can't help but think that if they use the larger of those 2 wings, the front end is going to get really light. Not really what you want at speed on dusty gravel.

stunning car! was in CCC some years ago. to stop the turbo stalling they vented he BOV air into the exhaust. when combind with the anti-lag there was NO lag! smile

and now they have N2O on top! lol

Chris.
I don't understand how venting BOV gases (themselves a function of the required level of boost being reached) venting into the exhaust (presumably pre-turbo going by the point you were trying to make) will hasten spool. Anti lag on it's own should be sufficient, or possibly a shot of nitrous at low revs should get the job done.

i think its got potential! the thing with pikes peak is the weather dictates all. cant be too wet or hot. if conditions are perfect records could fall! good luck! on another note, is there any internet coverage of the event?

I too must admit,

I saw the picture.....then saw where the team was based.

I had a wry chuckle.

The BOV does not bleed off excess boost pressure on full throttle, it vents boost pressure in the intercooler and pipework when you come off the throttle during a gear change. If that excess air is vented to the exhaust manifold pre-turbo, it can be combined with a shot of fuel and a retarded spark that blows right through the exhaust valves as they open and ignites in the exhaust manifold, keeping the turbo spinning during the gearchange.

well said mate, well said.. ..ps why do you have a cute name?

  • wonder if this venting into pre-turbo exhaust business would work on less pressurised turbo's??? Anyone tried?
or for that matter, heavy boost evo's with diabolical turbo lag..

I think this probably doesn't fully cure the lag but just make it a lot better since they are still using 2.0 lt engines!

First time I've seen that video...

Absolutely immense! The fact he's using his hand as a sun visor while hurtling up a gravel track with a bloody great drop inches to one side!
