Yeah, I have a Cupra myself (not the R though - brother-in-law has that) and we both feel let down by the new SEAT range, just hope the rumoured Mk2 Cupra R or the Mk3 in a few years redeem them, otherwise what else are we going to move on to..?
I think a lot of people feel the same! The Mk1 LCR is a classic design. I'm currently running an LCR, chipped to 270bhp and some handling mods still on the upgrade path. When I've finished with the car it'll probably be to something totally different altogether - perhaps a 370Z!

Could we stop using the phrase 'coupe-like profile' to describe hatchbacks? It's a f*cking HATCHBACK, NOT A COUPE. A vaguely sloping C pillar does not a coupe make!

I happen to think it's a good looking car too. unlike the new Leon which i still don't like to look off. I alss liked the last Iboza, had a 3 dr FR PD 130 with a remap. As for the comment it's only 180 BHP just like the last Cupra. Well yes but this time it's out of 1400 cc's not 1800cc's and has a Turbo Charger and a super charger. I have driven the Golf with this engine (a manual version) and its genius. Economic when you want it to be which means you can save pennies for when you want to Caine the hell out of it. Can't comment on the DSG though. I will give serious consideration to this when i'm looking to change but i will prob end up with another Golf.

As a foot note some one mentioned they haven't done a decent performance car since the LCR. Well what was the Ltd edition Leon K1 then with its touring car front spoiler and 240 PS engine??

I really like it, the interior also seems ok, nothing special but still nice.
A 180bhp engine with the economy of a 1.4 seems good to me.
Plus if you don't like DSG's buy a manual! I personally like them, they make the car faster with lightning fast changes, you can also change gear midcorner without upsetting the balance etc

I also like the Leon K1, much better than the mk1 LCR

Why do all hatchbacks look so high up? I hate NCAP and their meddling ways.

I think the looks of this are like Marmite, I really like it but others hate it. I'd personally think it looks a lot better than its rivals although I'd want a manual one

The 1.4 TSI is a stunning engine and in a car the size of an Ibiza it had the potential to be very very good indeed, but Seat have ruined it with the standard fit 7-speed DSG. I don't understand why they couldnt have just put in a 6-speed manual, seems crazy that manual isnt available full stop. Lets hope VW have more sense with the Polo GTI and Audi with the S1, both of which should share the same engine and platform.

Just as a side note DSG can be very very good when combined with certain engines in certain cars, e.g. the Golf GTI or the Jetta TDI, but clearly it dosent work in this case. Perhaps its because they are using the newer 7-speed rather than the 6-speed DSG in most other VAG cars?

i think this cool. 1.4 lightweight enginer with a supercharger and turbo with a 7 speed DSG gearbox. The last ibiza was an absolute mud skipper when it came to looks. I never understood how they even sold any of those in the UK let alone anywhere else in Europe.

Id like to wait and see what the tuners are managing to get out of this engine. Maybe 200-220bhp? The DSG is normally fantastic fun to drive in manual mode. After alaways slating them for being an auto (i hate autos) i actually managed to get a full on drive of a mk5 GTI with DSG and that completely changed my opinion from there on in. Unbelievable fun and that paddle gearchange is super trick.
