Anyone remember the "Twini" from Car and Car conversions in 1991...?
Totally Mint BRG cooper, all period original refurbed interior, (flat seats etc) except the rear ...where there was a second totally mint 1275 cooper motor sat!
260hp, 4wd.....on period 10 inch steelies..
Awesome car!
BTW has that mini tec conversion got a centre diff? in the transfer box maybe??
Yeah i remember that, a friend build a rough looking clubman with two MG metro turbo motors went like stick but didnt last long. Engines got sold off and the shell is still in his barn i think.Totally Mint BRG cooper, all period original refurbed interior, (flat seats etc) except the rear ...where there was a second totally mint 1275 cooper motor sat!

I loved my 1380 and 1430 and I am very tempted to get another mini project on the go.
Is it just me wondering where they've got their "400bhp" number from? Just because they've got "400bhp" drive shafts?
Last time I checked it wasn't possible to get a Honda B engine to make 400bhp in n/a guise on what looks like a standard inlet?
The engine's on offer from their website offer 180hp.
I'm not saying its impossible to make 400bhp from these engines, I'm questioning the claim that this kit will handle 400hp when the test car looks to be a fairly standard engine - albeit with shiney pullies....
I'd still have one though

This kit does seem like very good value compared to what has been out there up till now. MinTec are a respected name.
I will do something like this one day. It is easy to while away many an hour ogling fast Minis on http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/ - the builds section has some very nice cars in...

The kit probably isn't that much better value once you factor in the cost of a complete B series engine and ancillaries, CR-V gearbox and transmission, a decent rust free mini shell and then the labour and other bits to build it all. For 17k you get a complete Hyabusa engined mini road ready. Awesome kit but I wouldn't be fooled into thinking it's drastically less than the others.
I have always wanted a turbocharged Mini and I was looking into it a while back. Seem's there are a few companies out there that will do a drive in-drive out conversion for around £7k plus the Mini, thats for a Cavalier Turbo engine or a Zetec turbo. This seems good at first look but add the extras as someone stated and it'll be a lot more than that I'd guess.
I even went for a drive in Zetec turbo Mini, a Red Top Mini and a VTEC Mini and I have to say the VTEC's high revving nature suited the Mini's character to a T. The Red Top was too torquey, just span up in every gear in the dry, althoug it was beyond fast. As someone said, Porsche-slaying fast. The Zetec Turbo was better as the the boost came in progressively, unike the Red Top's torque and so when it made full boost at 3.5k ish it just took off, but it also didn't feel slow below 3.5k as it's so light. However revving out that VTEC was the nuts in the little Mini, like one of those Challenge Mini racers with the most fantastic noise. That would be my choice. Integra Type R motor in mine please.

Mini Tec have been doing engine conversions for years too, and this 4WD conversion must be about a year old. Come on PH, bit slow on the uptake!
There have been quite a few twin-engined Minis in the past. One a few years ago, two seater converted monstrosity. Vtec in front, Vtec in rear, both with NOS, apparently had 1000bhp but it seems it was a bit of a show bh and I never saw any dyno print outs or 1/4 times.
Z Cars also did a twin biked engine Mini as a one off, pure autograss conversion I believe it was. They also do the Monte Carlo, lightweight, stripped out fibreglass Mini spaceframe thing, you can put a supercharged 'Busa in the back and propel yourself 0-60 in less than 2.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 154mph.
