torque is up 14lb ft to a respectable (for a VTEC unit) 162lb ft
For a naturally aspirated 2 litre road car engine, 162lb ft is pretty respectable full stop.
is it though ? a humble 2.0 16v clio 138 is 138bhp, 145lb ft

The humble Clio also doesn't rev up and over 8000 rpm. Go and read about the relationship between max torque and rpm and you will answer your question. The longer the rev range the lower the max torque figure will be. However, the torque figure at the wheels will remain at a respectable rate unlike the Clio or diesel cars.

So you're saying that a 2.0 Clio tuned for torque rather than power still manages less?

Why couldn't Honda do this in the 1st place instead of making a car that is slower than it's predisessor. I still don't like it though lol.

This looks awsome! but for £30,000+ you would think they would go for independent rear suspension, i just dont think its worth it.
